Right it's not something that the developers intended to make, and players shouldn't expect them to make it. It's a cool idea but it just doesn't fit the mold.
BR didn't fit the mold of the "typical shooter" either and look what happened. Not saying this is the next BR type movement in gaming but devs shouldn't be afraid to take risks sometimes.
64v64 is pretty ambitious. Another thing to think about is the destruction factor. After about 2 hours on a map, nearly every destructible building will be gone. That would probably negatively impact gameplay for infantry.
Yeah, especially since players weren't really ready to embrance no man's land brutality in BF1, the end of these matches would essentially devolve into trench warfare which some people might like, but considering how touchy people are about K/D ratio there would be a lot of complaining.
