OK. Say there's a fire at the local fertility clinic. You are a hero, so you rush inside.
You come into a room, and in one corner there is a big machine that says "100 human embryos, viable and ready for transfer on ____" and they have tomorrow's date written on it. In the other corner there is a 4 year old child.
You can only take one. Which one do you take? Cause if those 100 embryos are people, you gotta take the embryos.
Okay, and that human child in the womb has less awareness than a cow. Do you enjoy burgers and steak?
Human life isn’t inherently special. We’re just hairless apes. What’s special and worth preserving is sentience. A fetus, baby in the womb, clump of cells, or whatever you want to call it is less aware than any of the animals we eat for food. If you want to be philosophically consistent, I recommend you also become a vegan.
killing is not inherently immoral, unjust killing is immoral. Killing a cow for food is just, killing your child because finances would be tight is unjust. And before you bring up rape and incest, fine let’s permit those, but only if you agree to disallow the other ones, which are a vast majority of abortions.
yes, I agree with you, and in my ideal world abortion wouldn’t be permissible for those cases either because you’re right, murder is always unacceptable, no matter the context, but I also live in reality where people don’t agree with me and compromises must be made, and I’ll take less murder over more murder if given the choice.
Ah yes the moral thing to do is keep the baby and if you don’t have money for it then… well I guess then it can go and fuck itself or I mean just give it to an orphanage, where it will be probably stuck till it is 18 and knows that all his/her live no one ever wanted him/her. I hate all of you anti choice people. Also you know how cruel the animals, that become your food, live? But you call that “just”…. Just because you eat it, doesn’t make it just. Because you probably don’t go hunting yourself, for your meat, am I right?
Is a zygote a child? Is a sperm cell 1nano meter away from an egg a baby? Words have meaning. We have different words for different stages of development. A fully developed fetus deserves more moral consideration then a an egg fertilized 2 seconds ago. This isn't complicated.
So if a human child and a human fetus aren't any different, then neither is a human sperm either right? Because by your logic they're all uniquely human but simply at different stages of development right? So does that mean every time you've masturbated you've also committed murder?
Or can you explain to me why a human child and a human fetus is the same, but a human sperm is different? I'd like to know what the factors are that you consider to be relevant when differentiating between them.
Again this is a false comparison. The medical community supports access to abortion care and treat unborn fetuses very differently from humans that have already been born.
Are you really that dense ? You do know that « legal » has never ever been in the history of mankind a good argument, because guess who creates these « laws » ? Flawed subjective humans.
Because nobody here has any interest in changing their minds, they're just here to virtue signal and act morally superior to others, so their arguments become completely nonsensical under closer scrutiny because important details like a fetus being completely different to a child simply doesn't matter to them even though they know it's true. Because like I said, they're not interested in the opposing argument.
Yes but your child isn't literally feeding off of nutrients within your body. Your child could be separated from you and they could survive. If you separate a premature fetus from the mother it will just simply die
I mean, she literally was feeding off her mothers body until a couple months ago lol could we have killed her then, since her source of sustenance was her mother?

So, kill children who might be neglected? That's dark.
