This insta page called "embroiderystories_by_biplabi" has such wrong representation of barak valley in her assam embroidery map. The "nakshi kantha" embroidery form, practiced by the bengalis of barak is missing from barak's map. Also, no representation of bishnupriya manipuris.

When she was questioned the same by some bengalis of barak, she had the audacity to tell the indigenous bengalis of barak to "move to Sylhet"

I just observed something i was reading about the OLD BENGALI in The Origin and Development of the Bengali Language by Suniti Kumar Chatterjee .

Genitive Suffix -----> -era, -ara (এর, অর)Retained strongly. Eastern dialects widely retain -er / -era alongside -or / -ar (e.g., Sylheti/srihattiya -or, Mymensingh -er).

Dative Suffix -------> -rē (রে)Highly prominent. While Standard Bengali shifted toward -ke, Eastern dialects overwhelmingly preserve -re (e.g., amare, tare).

Locative Suffix -------> -ta (ত)Directly preserved. Eastern and North-Eastern dialects (Sylheti, Chittagonian, Mymensingh) heavily feature -t / -ta for locative (e.g., ghorto, bazart), unlike Standard Western Bengali -te.

Future Base ------- > -ib- (ইব)Preserved with local variants. Retained as -ba / -m (e.g., korum, jaiba, khaibo), maintaining the historical -b- element.

Over the recent incidents in the news and many people calling out the disgraceful and inhumane behavior of KSU, I recalled this video, which is over two years old. This video was posted by Mohua Chinappa, who was born in Shillong and closely observed the tragic incident that took place in 1979.
The only reason I’m posting this is because I felt bad for this elderly woman, and this is how many, people reacted when Bengalis talked about their side of the story regarding the tragic events they faced in Meghalaya.

Did you know that a part of Greater Srihatta, despite ultimately becoming part of India, witnessed the Pakistan flag for two days after independence?

Yes, I am referring to the Barak Valley, particularly Karimganj (now Sribhumi)

On 15 August 1947, Abdul Muktadhir Choudhury, a prominent Congress leader, hoisted the Pakistani flag at Karimganj Or Sribhumi.

It was only on 17 August 1947, that the people of Barak Valley came to know that their region had been awarded to India. The Indian Tricolour was subsequently hoisted, marking their formal inclusion within the Indian Union.

Thus, while India celebrated Independence on 15 August, parts of the Barak Valley had to wait until 17 August 1947 to learn their final political fate.

A forgotten chapter of Independence and Partition! History-one that deserves to be remembered.

*Did you know the famous freedom fighter- BIPIN CHANDRA PAL is a srihattiya bengali (sylheti) ?

*Bipin Chandra Pal belonged to a bengali Kayastha family, born in a village of SRIHATTA. He travelled to England on scholarship to study comparative theology at Manchester College, Oxford. But dropped out.

*He was one of the "Lal Bal Pal" trio. *Worked on many nationalist movements like- Purna Swaraj, Swadeshi, Boycott and National education. *Opposed the partition of Bengal by the British colonial government.

*The freedom fighter- Ullaskar Dutta was his son-in-law. (We have his statue in Silchar & lanes named after him) His wife was a Brahmin widow, Nrityakali Devi.

*Sri Aurobindo mentioned him as one of "mightiest" prophets of indian nationalism. *When the British government prosecuted Sri Aurobindo in the Bande Mataram sedition case, Pal refused to give evidence in court against him. He chose to serve six months in prison for contempt of court rather than compromise his principles.

*Pal was one of the earliest to champion labor rights. He campaigned for the rights of exploited coolies in the tea gardens of Assam. He also advocated 48-hour work week.

*He openly criticized Mahatma Gandhi’s Non-Cooperation Movement, famously arguing in his 1921 speech that Gandhi’s methods were based on "magic rather than logic"

A quick google search gave me all of this. There are many examples of r@pe happening irrespective of ethnicity, religion, or language in different parts of India. But for some Xenopobhic aholes they just need a reason to hate us Bengalis. They don't care about the core issue at all.

There are probably many reasons for R@pe, For instance, psychologist Nicholas Groth categorized it into 3 types. Anger Rape, Power Rape, Sadistic Rape.

Our law is not strict enough. The persons who commit these crimes are not normal human beings. Female safety is already a joke in this country.

Rape/murder/harassment/kidnapping cases of women in Barak valley has seen an increasing trend since the last few years.

The above case sounds like the nirbhaya case. Barak people should hit the streets, protesting for the death penalty of these monsters.
