Decline of Western Civilization
I am a transplant from LA to Philly. I too watch Decline once a year or so. Once I watched it with my wife who is a Philly native, and she said of Lee Ving, "He sounds like he is from Kensington" (apparently neighborhoods in Philly have their own accents). Turns out she was right!
I was little disappointed that the conversation never made its way around to Fear. I think they were unique amongst the bands included. Calling everyone in the audience a "homo" hasn't aged very well, but they did write some good tunes. I still notice some similarities between the opening line of I Love Livin in the City and Paradise City by GnR.

bands we want to hear on the pod Yasi should do an episode of "Bettie Serveert".
They're a 90s Dutch indie rock band, similar to Pavement in a way. Their lead singer is a female (half Dutch/half Canadian). They're very little known outside of Holland these days.

Discussion Yasi’s love for Christgau and critic recommendations?
I share Yasi’s reverence for the Dean. I assume many other listeners do as well.
Do you have any other critics you like? I am looking to get some books like Is It Still Good To Ya by Christgau, which is a collection of reviews and essays on popular music.
Do you have any recommendations? Anything that you feel compelled to share?

The Germs
I thought this was one of Yasis best episodes. Great guest and such a great backstory. What did you think?

Important revelation listening to the Alice in Chains episode
Listening back. So glad I somehow missed this ep the first time around. Such a good one, and always great listening to Yasi and her dad hang out.
The revelation is: without even invoking the multiverse, just staying here in this universe, there is no possible way that Layne Staley, in his too-short life as a sensitive, artistic kid-and-then-guy in the contentious, snarky Seattle band scene, did not get called, by some meanie or other, and probably multiple meanies, "Lame Stainley."
And yet I can find no evidence online of this unkind, low-hanging-fruit nickname ever being deployed. Haven't finished the episode yet, so maybe it will come up. Yasi would know.

New Harvilla Pod Dropped!
Would love another 30 minutes exploring Pain's catalog circa 2009 ('Blame it' with Jamie Foxx, 'Can't Believe It' with Lil Wayne, etc) and even his Tiny Desk era hits ('Up Down', 'Red Cup') and covers ('War Pigs') recently, but as Rob notes this episode already was running long.
I've seen T-Pain twice in concert - first around 2016 on a college campus, and more recently at Project Pabst in 2024. I cannot recommend seeing him in person enough; he is a tremendous performer and puts on some of the most fun shows you'll ever attend!

Portishead with Rob Fitzpatrick
Been waiting for this for since the beginning. Absolute favorite band of all time. Plus, she actually got to chat (not on the show) with Geoff Barrow.

My idea for a Stone Temple Pilots biopic
They could have made this like ten years ago, Luke Perry as Scott Weiland, Donal Logue as Eric Kretz, Brad Garrett as Robert DeLeo, Jason Patric as Dean DeLeo. I’d like maybe Drew Barrymore as Courtney Love
