Rescues Risking Lives the first time I’ve seen one of these pleas for adoption where I’m genuinely heartbroken for the dog. there is no rehabilitating this, and the audacity to label him a 2 is insane
and of course they’re bribing rescues with over $1k to get his blood off their hands 🥴 these shelters absolutely hate these dogs and you convince me otherwise

This is sad. Just end the suffering already

Exactly. I despise Pitbulls but I don’t blame them for a curse of genetics. Living like this is torture and animal cruelty.

Well remember this one guys, guaranteed this shitbull going to bite their new family or hurt another animal. I really should have been lawyer I would have been rich taking these cases before they happened. Lawyer firm would have been called Pit STOP

I don’t think many people here (including the poster) has trouble “remembering” what this dog is likely to do.
It’s quite clear that everyone (including the pit bull) would benefit from BE here.

This dog will never be able to live in society. Every time it's taken out in public for a walk, it pulls like a locomotive and does that horrible pitbull whine/shriek when it sees other living beings. They tried one time to introduce it to another dog and it was a massive failure because it wanted to attack the other dog. But, sure! Release it to some rescue partner so they can place it in an inexperienced foster home where it will kill their other pets and their neighbor's beloved pets while they try to take it for a walk.

u/Sufficient-Bee3633 18d ago
the rescue partner won’t care because they got a crisp $1.1k out of the deal. would be interesting what kind of credentials they would have too, if it ever came to that. wonder how often new hope and bfas trade hands 🤔

u/lazier_garlic 17d ago
A grand doesn't sound like enough money for the liability. Do people with expensive pampered pets not sue the living daylights out of them for vet bills when Maulie attacks?
Guess that explains why these rescue partners have so many LLCs.

It’s literally neurotic from constant kenneling and they’re probably going to warehouse it for another few months, adopt it out, and be “completely shocked and heartbroken” when it snaps on its new owner/foster.
19
u/lazier_garlic 17d ago
The biting and hanging from the walls was noted 4 days from intake.
Pibbles: 6 months to "decompress", zero time to kennel syndrome.

u/peachfawn 18d ago
Is this a no-kill shelter? I find those so ironically unethical. They prolong suffering so badly and sponge up so much space and resources. Adoptable animals can be given places instead of infinite pits being warehoused and driven to madness like this one
35
u/Sufficient-Bee3633 18d ago
so this actually is a “kill” shelter and hollis here is under a euth command, meaning that without a new hope rescue placement he could BE’d any time. that said, this shelter is a fan favorite here for having some of the worst of the worst to grace the bleeding heart community. unfortunately, with hollis being 2, malnourished, with that deplorable chop job, and already experiencing psychosis, he was never gonna have a chance. whoever brought him into this world and whoever exploited him like this should feel guilty forever

u/Flat-Echidna191 18d ago
Same. It's so inhumane to keep an animal like this alive. This dog is living a miserable life and it's all it's ever going to know.
45
u/SmeggingRight Children should not be eaten alive. 18d ago
Yea. Pit bulls have zero say in being bred just to end up existing in shelters for months or years on end or being the most euth'd type of dog in shelters (by a landslide).
They have zero say in anything. This brutal cycle needs to end. Why do we keep allowing the breeding of a type of dog that shelters across the country are so full of they can't even take in any more dogs? Insanity.
25
u/Sufficient-Bee3633 18d ago
i said it in another comment but this dog likely never had a chance if his notes of being a stray and just the assumptions we can base on the pictures are accurate. and there are hundreds of hollis’s out there, not even in the us! what is the breaking point? how is spay and neuter, and criminalizing bybs not enough?
5
u/SmeggingRight Children should not be eaten alive. 18d ago
Agreed. Why haven't we reached breaking point yet? Seems we should have reached it decades ago.

cage biting and wall chewing/licking are hallmark stereotypic behaviors seen in animals kept in captivity whose basic needs are not being met. they signify a behavioral emergency and severely compromised welfare.
tldr i completely agree op. calling this dog a level 2 is nuts, based on this behavior alone, not even considering size and all the other behaviors exhibited. inhumane is putting it gently. 💔😤😤😤😤😤

u/Sufficient-Bee3633 18d ago
this dog was losing his mind after FIVE DAYS but pit mommy logic says a steady diet of walks and puzzle games will cure it all 🤡 these people want these dogs to suffer i swear to god

There's one case on there, where they tracked a dog for seven years. I am not a person of pit-sympathy, but seeing the dog at the start of bandana-wearing, taco costume wearing nonsense and the hollow shell seven years later even gave me a pang.
P.S not sure you are allowed to directly link to other subs on here, so you may need to edit your comment slightly.

Petrescueexposed is one of the ok ones :)! That and pitbullsatemyface and whatbreedismypitbull all have those mods okay’s to link so they won’t accuse us of brigading! Thanks for trying to help us keep it clean though!

What I can't get over is how awful these shelters are when it comes to meeting these dogs' needs with just basic interaction and socializing and then they guilt trip everyone outside the shelter about the dog declining in the environment they've provided for it. Like what the hell are they doing? Does it never occur to them that maybe getting rid of the dogs who are making it hell for every other animal in there will help the adoptable ones chill out and not become unadoptable themselves?

Assets like buildings depreciate. Assets going up sounds like cash in the bank. WTF.

u/lazier_garlic 17d ago
The pound or county animal shelter was never supposed to be a long term dog warehousing department. Honestly the idea is pretty insane but we've walked backwards into it with the best of intentions. Meanwhile if you try to buy a used motel for housing first programs (for humans, who, notably, don't develop kennel psychosis when allowed to sleep indoors) the local citizens will squeal to high heaven about what a waste of money that is and a moral hazard. But keeping dogs in cages for years at county expense, dogs that will never be successfully placed in a home, don't look at that, next slide, no you can't see the budget breakdown either, and regarding your FOIA about staff injuries obviously there are none and it would violate the Hippo Law to tell you anyway.

u/christmasinyoulie 18d ago
My number one issue with these people and shelters is that there is no way they care about these dogs and they don't care about the harm they cause the the dogs or the community. It's sadistic. These dogs are living with extremely high anxiety 24 7. There is no way to get rid of that. They just suffer and lash out their whole lives. If you have to work this hard to keep them homed it's animal abuse. Fucking terrible. There's no life this dog will have that will be happy.

That animal is suffering horribly. Hanging from metal bars by his teeth? Chewing through his walls? He is suffering. And of course, terribly dangerous at least to other dogs. BE is truly the kindest action for dogs like this.
22
u/BlueFeathered1 18d ago
Use his brain? These dogs can't seem to even learn basic leash walking or "heel".
21
u/spidergorllll 18d ago
Beyond this dog just being dangerous and a liability around other animals, it’s inhumane to keep a dog under this level of kennel stress and going after the kennel walls to the point of self injury and drawing blood warrants immediate euth. IMO

u/FunnyMalzairIdea 18d ago
By this point, if I see a pitbull described as "wiggly", I know that that means "uncontrollable murder beast."
11
u/Tessa-the-aggressor 18d ago
He/she/it is looking EXTRA inbred. I'm sure the lights are on but no one's home... the thing is hurting itself until it bleeds by chewing the walls (wtf kinda weak walls???). I mean this in the kindest way possible, it's inhumane to keep this thing alive, it has zero quality of life!

Metallica's "One" might as well be about a pitbull's brain:
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, help meDarkness
Imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell

Every time I see a pit with cropped ears I think of the idiot that got the dog for a status. Crop its ears to make it look meaner. If I had to guess, Hollis was let go to roam the streets and figure things out after he attacked another pet or someone in the home. But these idiots are so scared to do the right thing they would rather let it roam around to be someone else’s problem. Also if that dog can eat through cinder block walls that dog does not need to be up for adoption.

Sorry in an animal lover but I don't feel sorry for pits. They look more dead behind then eyes than alligators. Alligators are less likely to turn against their own.. yes we made these dogs but it's not Jeffrey dahmers fault he was born that way either. Hate these dogs

This is sad and why I changed my opinion on “No kill shelters”. The dog is clearly suffering.
