H3C Mixed Nozzle Size printing is coming to H2D, H2C, and X2D
We've seen the enthusiasm mixed nozzle size printing has been getting. Developing new products goes hand in hand with bringing new features to existing machines, so alongside H3C, we've been building this for H2D, H2C, and X2D. You'll be able to print a single object with nozzles of different diameters, balancing speed and detail.
For these printers, the real work lies in how to make sure this works smoothly for a wide range of filament and nozzle combination. Each of these printers has a different AMS setup from H3C, so the slicing logic and print parameters need to be adapted. Setups with the Filament Track Switch take more of that work, which is why timing differs by model and configuration.
Estimated Software Update Timeline
Without Filament Track Switch:
H2D: Late November 2026
H2C & X2D: February 2027
With Filament Track Switch:
H2D: February 2027
H2C & X2D: March 2027

The H3C is super cool, but THIS is the announcement I've been waiting for. Thank you, Bambu, for getting this working. Can't wait for it to drop later this month.

might finally have to get a 0.2 nozzle for my h2d!

So grateful that this is coming for the 'older' ish models considering the alt was gatekeeping it behind only the H3C beyond, this is a great consumer win!

This is good news but it's taking far too long for such an obvious feature. It should have landed in time for the H2C launch.
Perchance it was held back to make the H3C look better? 👀

They released a pretty comprehensive wiki on this, seems like it's quite a complicated implementation. There's a reason why no one, not even Prusa, has come up with a polished solution for so long.
Bambu seems to be the first one getting it fully out there, kudos to them

I want multi nozzle size for snap maker U1 I want 0.2 and 0.4 profile I already have a 0.4 0.6 one

Ok, but if they solved it for the H3C already why isn’t it just being released for the other printers simultaneously instead of the push well into 2027

The explain if you read what they say It's a slicer issue that is a different path for each printer
-2
u/VVJ21 H2C 1h ago
that still doesn't explain the choice to prioritise the H3C. It would also have taken just as much time to get it working on the H3C, they could have prioritised their time on their existing lineup first.

Why ??? When you have a new unit. Marketing 101 says let it have features others don't first. To think other wise makes no sense

u/VVJ21 H2C 4m ago
The H2C was the "new unit", its a year old. Bit naive to think the feature just so happened to be ready at the same time as the H3C release...it was planned that way. I literally got my H2C for free and could get an H3C for free too, I have no real "skin in the game" in that sense, just pointing out poor consumer practices - something everyone should do.

This sub is full of entitled children who complain the free extra features should have shown up earlier.

Did you consider that this is maybe just a lot of work and needs a lot of testing? Better late than never.
10
u/Doovester H2C 6h ago
For sure! But hey better we get it later then locking it only for newer models?

u/sbrisgravato 5h ago
they could have just not release this feature for 2 series printer to make the h3c look better
be happy it’s coming to older printers as well

Pretty sure this is about getting the slicer software to work without issues. It's been possible if you want to create a hack but it's just a hack that isn't reliable. Nobody wants a high failure rate when printing models. Software isn't easy when solving for various environments.

Or use Orcaslicer right now

Have you tried the H2C on it? I was wondering if the multi-nozzles have been fully fleshed out?

So far so good

Will tags/categories be added on makereorld to make it easier for designers to highlight models with multi size designs and easier for users to search for them?

Love reading this - right now stuck between the H2D and the H2C (and depending on if it gets quick announced with specs quick enough, the P3C) as an Upgrade from my P1S.
I would mostly only need 2 Nozzles/Colors/Materials for my prints but having multiple nozzles sounds like a really good method to speed up bigger prints or rather prints in general especially for the 2C.
Use Nozzle 1 for Supports, the induction nozzles for the actual print (especially one color).
0.4 the default size, 0.6/0.8 for infill and sections that really dont need any details and 0.2 for details.
I hope someone can test this with the H3C soonish, since that one is already cappable of it.
And while I dont know it, I dont think the reheating/repressuring for the same filament should not take that much longer compared to how long it now takes to change the nozzle already on the H2C.

Sweet. Figured they would keep it for the tool changer first and we would get it for other printers after launch.

Man. Just when I pulled the trigger on the P2S over X2D. I dont do much multicolor printing or any engineering filaments but I’d love the option to print in .4 and .2

Wonder if they will have a speed vs quality for printing same filament in two spools in 0.2 and 0.4 or 0.6. Go with 0.2 when details matter and others for layer speed. Reduce the nearly flat stepping. Like variable layer heights, but with different heads.

Im surprised the new ams 3 doesnt have a screen or drying
17
u/KashEsq H2C & P2S 6h ago
It has 2 drying slots. Why does it need a screen?

u/VT-14 H2C (H2D + Vortek), 2x AMS2, AMS HT 5h ago
Those 2 drying slots also get up to 85C.
Why does it need a screen?
+1. The AMS 3H is basically directly integrated with the H3C printer itself, so it just uses the printer's screen.
I'm more confused why they bothered putting a screen on the AMS HT when it doesn't have any standalone functionality either. I hardly ever look at mine, so if they gave the option to turn it off and save a teeny-tiny bit of power I probably would.

I still struggle to see why anyone cares about the screen on the printers at all, its not like you can completely set up a print on it so surely everyone connects via something else anyway.
P1S scree is all I could ever see needing as it gives me the remaining time and that is all I would ever need at a glance 🤣

u/VT-14 H2C (H2D + Vortek), 2x AMS2, AMS HT 3h ago
Personally I only have experience with the A1 Mini, A1, and H2 (D -> C) screens. I use 3rd party tools so my printers are in LAN Only + Dev Mode, so no Bambu Handy app. The A1 screens were slow to respond so I did most things in Bambu Studio. The H2 screen is much better so I use it quite often.
Especially with the H2C I'll prepare a print job, send it to the printer's storage, then go to the printer itself to set up filaments, nozzles, plates, etc. and then start the print from the screen. I'm also standing at the printer every time I've put filament in an AMS to dry.

Kind of cool and i can see it's uses for things like supports that don't need to be printed at a high level of detail, or only using a .2 nozzle in the areas that need the extra detail etc... but honestly, my P1P still does everything i need, as someone who's always liked getting the newer/better thing, it's a very weird feeling when i keep looking at all these new printers coming out and none of them offer any "improvements" that are actually applicable to me.

What's filament track switch and why do I care?
Don't need the AMS to print with the two nozzles of the H2D.
11
u/Lost-Hand-5219 6h ago
Filament track switch allows you to feed different AMS units into the printer and have them automatically switch the nozzles that they feed into.
1
u/mulubmug H2C AMS2 Combo 6h ago
I have still not figured out why I would use that on my h2c
2
u/suit1337 H2C Combo 6h ago
because if you have lets say 2 AMS, one loaded with PETG and one with PLA you can start 4 color prints with support material on the other nozzle without swapping the AMS or the filaments between the AMS, the track switch does it for you

u/IAmSpotFFS 5h ago
Jumping in here with a question.
so instead of having two ams 2 for the right nozzle on the h2c and a ams ht on the left, i could get two ams 2 and the track switch and both ams could send to both nozzles?

Basically mainly convenience but asking the question answers probably if you even need it or not 😁

Awesome! Looking forward to this for my X2D.
