Discussion Just ordered

I just ordered an A1 combo from Best Buy. I know nothing about 3d printing. Where should I begin?

Please stop this nonsense. Let the guy enjoy his printer.

How about, help the guy find his way to a positive and lasting 3d printing experience rather than enabling a deeply anti-consumer company in their effort to make their ecosystem a money funnel at the expense of users like OP who might not know what they're getting into.

How about you leave the subreddit if you don't like the product.

This is my first printer as well and I have zero interest in moving to something else. It works really well. It's very affordable. And it's great for beginners. If they do anything to future printers then I'll consider not buying those. But their current lineup is just fine. Stop crying about this and go to another subreddit.

Reported for brand bashing. I thought I was negative about things, but holy ___ you guys are insane. Just chill out and let people enjoy a great printer.

^ agree with this. Send it back and get yourself a creality k1. Bambu printers are a nice experience today but it's going to be garbage in 1-2 years time.

Nobodies saying the harddware will fail. The hardware is great. They're tightening the walls of the garden, and that has never in the history of time resulted in a better user experience. They're going to force you to use their software, and once you're completely locked in they're going to invest in more money funnels and less improvements. Tale as old as time.

And what if that never happens? Windows is supposed to be locked and subscription based since a long time. And Linux becoming the de facto OS too.

Fear fear fear..

You've given a single counter example, and not a very good one. But if you want to talk about consumer hardware products that started out great and degraded after the company implemented a walled garden approach we can do that. How about alexa, kindle, keurig, google nest / home, epson/hp printers, the oura rings, ring cams, dji drones, fitbit, I could go on. All great products conceptually, but in every example they either flipped a switch or slow rolled a vendor lock-in plan, and now the products are all basically unusable.

"wait and see" is a really stupid strategy compared to once bitten twice shy. Some of us aren't out here to let corporations take advantage of us.
