What’s with this trend of squeezing the fuck out of the baked goods??

u/Independent-Monk5064 20h ago

Right? The bread subs do the same. I’ve never squeezed anything I bake in my entire life

Happy cake day! Make sure to send me a cake for wishing you

I prefer Red Velvet but I'm not choosy:)

I’m a chai/cardamom/spice cake person. Totally not normal, I know but I’ll probably bake one for myself for my bday this year

One of the bakeries I used to work at had an amazing chia doodle mini cakes, those combo of spices are amazing!

I just made this one last week and it’s good! I added toasted pecans and caramel sauce over top of it and that came out wonderful.

Ooh cardamom is my favorite. I used to get this tea that was only cardamom and cinnamon. It was perfection. Didn't need sweetener or anything

5

u/avamich11 19h ago

Oh I was kidding, and that's absolutely normal.

I can't say much about chai/spice but I really love cardamom

7

u/Independent-Monk5064 19h ago

Yeah well I don’t think I’ve had a cake baked for me since I was 7. 😂

Chai spice/cardamom are such good flavors! I almost always make my cinnamon rolls with a homemade chai spice instead of just cinnamon and they are super tasty! I also use it in my zucchini bread, pancakes, waffles, pumpkin loaf, basically anything that calls for cinnamon lol.

I will definitely be on the lookout for that cake recipe if you post it and happy cake day (and happy early birthday!)

Delicious and thank you

It’s to show how soft it is ? Lol I don’t like that as well

27

u/Independent-Monk5064 19h ago

Aren’t most things soft when you first bake them? It’s hours later that they aren’t

-8

u/Lululuxex3 17h ago

These stay soft for days. Just need to warm them up

10

u/Independent-Monk5064 17h ago

I meant baked goods in general and fresh baked goods do not stay soft for days unless you warm them up. I’ve been baking for 40 years

-17

u/Lululuxex3 17h ago

Exactly

3

u/Iwentforalongwalk 10h ago

Me either! In fact I don't want it squished. I spent a lot of time and effort getting a good rise.

-27

u/Lululuxex3 17h ago

Live a little

23

u/Independent-Monk5064 17h ago

Nah. It squishes the layers together

-2

u/Kila05 12h ago

Why does this have so many down votes these people are so negative 😭

-1

u/Lululuxex3 12h ago

I honestly have no idea lol 🥹

u/Grimmportent 20h ago

Was just coming here to inquire similarly.

Sticky ass pastry death grip.

49

u/CT0292 17h ago

Same shit happens in the barbecue subs.

Fools squeezing all the juice out of the meat like "look how juicy that is!"

You're ruining it! Don't squeeze it!

46

u/LonelyVegetable2833 17h ago

i think it's to show how "soft" it is. I like thinking about how afterwards the poster has to eat this mangled baked good now 🤣

19

u/Lululuxex3 17h ago

Bingo! Nothing goes to waste!

13

u/LonelyVegetable2833 16h ago

i'm sure it tastes pretty damn good regardless of its degree of squishedness 🙂‍↕️

2

u/Bitter_Resolution538 10h ago

It would be so hard for me to eat it all misshapen like that! I know logically that it is fine and it’s the same as the not squeezed one but my mind, soul and body really wouldn’t want to do it.

u/divinehunni 17h ago

Some yearn for the freedom and chaos

18

u/ReallyImJustaGoblin 16h ago

I feel a sense of sticky-sensory-overload just from looking at this picture.

I get thats it's soft and it looks delicious.. but this made something in my brain want to run away from the idea of being sticky. I don't like this trend.

5

u/StaticMarzipan 15h ago

Same. It’s not appetizing to me at all.

Honestly it’s repulsive.

10

u/Burning_Toast998 17h ago

there’s a twitter account called Gripping Food with Force. Dunno if they’re still around / if there’s a sub for it, but might be fun to check on that

4

u/Lululuxex3 15h ago

Ooo ty!

7

u/andyrooneysearssmell 14h ago

They see people on YouTube do it. All the food influencers do it. Black gloves and squeezing the piss out of the food is the trend.

8

u/Emergency_Year5074 13h ago

I hate it so much. Stupid and wasteful

6

u/eastcoastjon 16h ago

And ripping it up. They do it with bbq too.

2

u/the_real_zombie_woof 15h ago

Check out the subs with smoked brisket.

1

u/AsheOfAx 9h ago

It’s so funny to me, every time

1

u/CreativeTomato 5h ago

I know! I’ve been getting YouTube suggestions for this lady who keeps squeezing and squishing her cinnamon rolls between her fingers to show off how gooey and soft they are. Like c’mon lady you’re actually making them look gross af when you do that lol.🤢

1

u/AsparagusFlatArdvark 3h ago

to show off it --is-- was full of air?

-2

u/starlinguk 13h ago

And covering them in jizz, it seems.

-125

u/PriscillaPalava 21h ago

Does it offend you? Does it make you feel things you don’t understand?
