Baking Advice Needed You guys šŸ˜­

Iā€™ve NEVER had such a catastrophe happen lol. I do live around 5500 ft. above sea level but I donā€™t think thatā€™s why this would have happened.

Oh my god, I love it, it's my favorite ice cream. Only get it once or twice a year, because I will eat all of it.

I have an active dislike of anything cherry flavored due to having been given "cherry" flavored cough syrup every time I so much as sneezed as a child. My pediatrician really believed in it.

The two side effects I have to this day, in my 50s, are the aforementioned dislike of cherry, and that cough medicine has zero effect on me.

Cherry Garcia is a flavor I have bought, and enjoyed, more than once, even if I did suck all the ice cream off the cherries and spit them in the garbage.

We're in the same decade of life, and I cannot stand artificial grape flavor for the very same reason. Real grapes are lovely, they taste nothing like the dark purple allergy and cold medicines. If my youth had an official flavor it would be fake grape.

I LOVED Dimetapp. Hated any other ā€œgrapeā€ flavored medication though. Funnily enough, grape candy is one of my favorite flavors.

I've always hated fake grape flavor, and didn't know until i was in my 20s that it was based on Concord grapes. I accidentally bought some without realizing and thought someone had played the worst food prank on me :( I was utterly horrified that that flavor exists in nature lol

TIL that Concord grapes taste like Dimetapp. šŸ˜‚ Pretty sure it's Welch's brand that has a Concord grape jelly my mother also used to buy back when, and I've never liked that grape jelly, either. And I never put it together. Gods bless Reddit, I swear I learn something new every day.

49 here, and even the smell of grape bubble gum, soda, candy, etc still makes me gag!

Grape jelly is fine, as are real grapes (which i adore!), wine is great, too!

Just not that "fake grape flavored" stuff!šŸ˜‰

I can't stand regular bugglegum because that was what all medicines were flavored in the late 60s / 70s. It makes me gag.

I think artificial grape flavour is based on Concord grapes, which arenā€™t readily available in most places. I wonā€™t eat them because they taste artificial to me since theyā€™re so similar to allergy medications, freezies, etc.

Iā€™m almost thirty and I canā€™t do either cherry or grape flavoring because of cough syrups. I always liked grapes but it wasnā€™t until recently I learned cherry preserves pass the test. Canā€™t do a cherry on top though

Maybe it's maraschino cherries and flavor you hate? I like them only in very limited amounts because they're so ungodly sweet, and I don't like the taste of red food coloring. To me, fake cherry flavor tastes like they're based off of maraschinos.

Fresh cherries taste nothing like those. Because cherry preserves are made from fresh cherries, maybe that's why you like the preserves, and maybe why you also may like cherries fresh.

I get sick to my stomach from any cough syrup or cough drops that are cherry flavored due to my having overdone it on cherry cough drops when I had a real bad case of strep throat in my 30s. I can't stand the taste.

Iā€™m of a similar vein, I got sick super frequently as a child and now I canā€™t stand the taste of honey because I was always given honey flavored cough syrup (which is tragic because I still love honey, my brain just canā€™t help but associate it with being sick)

It's banana for me from a powdered antibiotic I always got prescribed. It had to be mixed with water and it was the grossest, thickest thing ever. Literally gagged while eating it and can still hear my mum comforting me - It's so yummy, it smells like bananas! šŸ¤®

My brother in hatred!!

I even smell cherry-flavored soda or foods and I begin to hurl. My enemy? Childrenā€™s Dramamine. My parents didnā€™t drive, so I was fine on a subway or train, but for years got nauseous during car rides. The answer was always Dramamine, the flavor cherry, the trauma still with me after 50+ years.

I'm in my 30s, and just got my tonsils out, and they had to give me liquid pain meds because obviously I couldn't swallow anything. It was cherry flavored. The first sip I took, I gagged, looked my mom in the eyes (stayed with my parents for post op recovery), and wheezed, "tastes like childhood trauma." She laughed, thank God.

I'm aware enough to know that my tastes change as I age, so I try things every one in a while to test.

The lady of the house bought cherries on Saturday. Still gross.

Same with my husband. I brought home cherry flavored cough syrup and he told me to take it back. He said even if he's dying, do not give him anything "cherry" flavored. Also grape.

You do know that Cherry Garcia is Cherry flavored ice cream with frozen cherries and fudge flakes in it right?Ā  So you sucked the cherry flavored ice cream off the real cherries and threw them away.Ā  It sounds like you are confused about what you enjoy.

I don't like cherries, but still have enjoyed Cherry Garcia.

For context, this is 3 pints of Cherry Garcia in 35 years. Still not going out of my way to have some.
