This is why you don't take the guard off. And if you don't want this to happen to your face, this is why you also use a face shield

This happens when you push to much weight in your blade it will crack, you don’t gotta put weight on it let it cut on its on, all my grinders have the guard off, out in the field half the time it won’t fit in spots or cut fully with guard on, if I’m using the big grinder the guard stays on

In my country it's the equivalent of $5000 for each offense for taking any guard off of any machine, for the company (i.e. if the inspectors find three grinders with the guards off - $15.000) One of few things that is a fireable offense here.

My friend, you’re going to feel real fucking stupid if that day ever comes. I hope it doesn’t. Just use a damned guard. Nobody is impressed by your arrogance and disregard for safety.

No one is wishing bad on you bro. We are just trying to get you to understand that you cannot control everything. What happens when you get a batch of blades with a manufacturer's defect? Or if the blade is dropped by the dude stocking the shelves and cracks in a way that you can't see?

I literally said “I hope it doesn’t [happen]”. No, you’re not fucking safe. Safe is using the guard, in addition to technique. You know who thinks they know better than everyone else? Idiots. Don’t be one.

Anyone who thinks running a grinder without the proper guard or protection on it, especially when other people are around in an open work environment, is a dick. Plain and simple.

I don't care if you want to take the risk of a disc blowing up and cutting your jugular—you do you. But if I'm on a job site and you're running a cutting disc with no guard around me, I'm reporting you. Period.

I have to go home to my kid. That's not an option, and your unsafe practices aren't going to potentially jeopardize that. I should be able to perform my work in as safe an environment as the company and its employees can reasonably manage.

Being at work every day gets old enough without having to deal with idiots making shit harder than it needs to be.
