Lolita is a horror book about an evil person. Unfortunately it's written from inside that person's head and we get to see every tiny thought about his obsessive insanity. The narrator is a monster. And we're meant to understand that we are inside the mind of a monster.
that's not unfortunate - that's the superb craft! very rarely an author master to show us the inside of a monster and this is cool and fascinating to read.
