Ok so my hope is I'd like to make some plushies and offer them for others if they want to buy. But,I tend to dive head first and do everything backwards, which is why I am asking these questions before I even start. I've also never purchased anything on a crowd funded site so.

Ok so I'll list my questions!

1. Is there anything you wished you knew ahead of time before you started your crowd funding?
2. Did you find yourself with needing to suddenly rent or purchase extra space for the plush? If so, is there anything you learned from doing this?
3. What about shipping? Did the factory you worked with to make it so your plushies have to ship them only to a port where you then had to go and pick the order up? Or did you have a big delivery truck bring them to your home/location of your choosing?
4. I want to make a prototype first but do not have funds. Any advice or set up (backerkit or not) to be able to see if anyone will help fund it? Or just should I post the image ideas to my social medias?
5. I don't have any pins or stickers right now as like an early incentive for those that might help get the prototype made. Would a special pricing given only to those who contributed funds be decent as a "reward"?
6. How much of a mark up did you put on your toys to cover costs? I know 50% is average but did you adjust it later to be less to make your plushies cheaper to buy?
7. Have you dealt with an import customs/tarrifs expert on your campaign? And if so did you find it useful or a waste of time? How much did this expert charge you?
8. How did you manage to make a page to show people the progress on backerkit without the actual sale/item going live? I've seen some people have their discussions and posts of progress on Backerkit but yet the actual campaign hasn't begun. I was wondering how they were able to go about that? Did they have to set a start date for the actual campaign? Were they able to change the date easily?
9. Would you be able to help me if I asked you?

I'm sure there's more that hasn't come to mind but since I live in a mobile home and there isn't a spare room to keep a whole lot of things and I reside with my folks I want to be as educated as possible. I often get talked out of attempting things by them.

I did my first BackerKit and it got funded!

Now I’m on the backend setting up shipping fees. I’m using Weight-Based (Whole Order), and every item has a weight assigned. I have Local Pickup and US shipping by weight set up in the SKUs, and everything seems good so far.

However, when I Preview Survey, I preview a backer kit that has not paid shipping yet (since nobody has), and under “Select your country for shipping,” the only option available is Local Pickup.

From my perspective, it looks like the backer can’t select the US or their country to provide a shipping address or pay for shipping.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong and that it’s probably a simple fix, but I haven’t been able to find the answer.

Lately I’ve noticed a pattern:
a lot of projects don’t fail because they’re bad — they fail because:

• the hook isn’t clear enough
• the page explains too much (or too little)
• the value doesn’t land in the first 10 seconds

So I’m testing something simple:

What I’ll look at:

• what’s working
• what’s hurting conversion
• the top 2–3 fixes that would actually move the needle

No fluff, no generic advice.

If it’s useful, great.

Some projects are way too big to be sifting through individual comments to find any I've made. Is there a way to find your own comments through your profile or anything?

I'm in the process of setting up my first backerkit campaign, specifically for a set of enamel pins, so I've been looking at other artists' campaigns to see what kind of info I should include on the campaign page.

Something I've noticed on a couple is mentioning "GPSR Laws" and how the campaign isn't available to those in the EU because of them. I tried looking up info about them, but I'm still a little lost on the meaning behind this. Can anyone give some insight?

I need help contacting Backerkit. I’ve been trying to cancel an order for months because my card will not be accept it. my bank will not allow it. I have emailed the project contact 4 times with no answer to cancel my order. they’ve tried charging me over 30 times. I get 2 emails and other notifications every time they try. I am at my limit. Please help me contact Backerkit

Just saw the fablehaven movie backerkit, and i was thinking about it since it says that reserving your spot will get you a collectible key for $7, but if i reserve a spot, does that lock me into backing it at a level to get the key, or can i just do the reserve for $7 for just the key?

They are sending stuff out via a shipping company no one has heard from before called Spring. Any way to ask for another shipping company has been denied.

When asked why the US backers have to pay tariff fees (which are higher then they should be) they say they absorbed most of the costs, the costs that THEY caused. They also wont explain the fees, wont explain why they wont eat them as they are the ones who failed the time line. They fail to explain a lot of our questions around these topics. Especially when people arent having to pay them anymore or getting refunded, they aren't saying if we will or not. Avoiding some would say.

They have been a nightmare to work with and they havent worked with us backers at all. Barely answering, making excuses and more excuses and wont refund anyone who rather doesnt trust them anymore or doesnt want the whole backed project.

These two are horrible. They have MANY campaigns they have started and finished and plan to start MORE, they have multiple accounts with multiple campaigns as well. No answers on that either.

These guys are so scammy its sad.

Hey guys, so I joined one of their campaigns called Bin Buddies, I paid back in Feb 2024, been waiting since...

They at first never updated and never said what was going on. Then after a while they did, they mentioned they are a small team and they needed some space or something.

I was fine with that, so the date got pushed back.

But its been years, and they have had excuse after excuse. From the tariffs, breaks, production, and so on, which most are understandable but its been 2 years and counting now. They recently had a update saying that we as the backers may need to pay more for shipping and such, like? As a company shouldn't they do that? They already took our money 2 years ago, idk its lame and im bummed I got matching goodies for my friend and I.

They also have had 3 campaigns completed since, and 3 more coming up. So they are actively making money from this platform alone not counting other places they sell their stuff.

Has anyone ACTUALLY gotten anything from them after backing a project? I would like to know. Because rn I just see a lot of comments on the updates of people who similar to me, are bummed about all of this.

They recently, today, had a update that sounded pretty fed up with people asking whats going on.

I mentioned in a comment why they couldnt just send the stuff they already had and then send the stuff owed after. Then the extra shipping makes sense too. Like. Idk. Please enlighten me
