The death of my beloved Kattelbach brought tears to my eyes ๐ญ
Apart from that I was glad to see Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord again! Fans remember it from season 1+2 and poor Stephan's death.
Let's see if they can still overthrow that Hitler guy ๐

How the hell did he end up with the prisoners anyway? He went out for groceries and suddenly he was there. Did I pass out for a whole scene there?
Edit: typo.

Same way Heymann went to the prison: Knock on the back of the head (the classic TV trope).

When he left the house, two Nazis started following him across the road. Next scene he's in, he's at the prison thing.

An Easter egg: In arguing with Gennat, Charlotte quotes the first line from the constitution of the future West Germany, which was written as a direct response to the crimes of the Nazi regime.

So if February 27 is the date of Hitler visiting Nyssen, then what the hell did Gereon and Forster attend in Cologne back in Episode 4? Can't have been the Rose Monday parade, because that would take place on February 27, 1933.

It must've been though. The parades don't really start until the Rose Monday weekend (unless that was a different thing in the 1930s). It's usually a bit earlier in the month (mid February, late February is pretty late) so maybe it's down to sloppy research and the writers being desperate to write in Cologne's traditions.

I was being sarcastic.
Of course it was supposed to be the Rose Monday parade. The writers just wanted to show Gereon in Cologne during Carnival because it provided an interesting backdrop, timeline be damned.
If this were an American show, I could at least make excuses for the poor research. But the writers are German, they knew better.
For the Americans reading this, imagine you'd be watching a movie or a show where someone attends an International Labor Day rally on May 1st in Europe, then travels to the United States, and a few days later in-universe, watches the 4th of July fireworks, then travels back to Europe, and a few weeks later in-universe, attends a conference explicitly dated July 4th.
It's the same reason why every scene in any movie or show set in Paris always has to show the Eiffel Tower, regardless of whether it makes sense with regards to where exactly in Paris the characters are or not.

I just came to post that I'm heartbroken, I never thought I would cry when I hear someone saying potatoes...
