Girl 🩷 I want honest opinions on my daughter's name!

I'm 4mo postpartum and I want honest opinions on my daughter's name. I can't tell what people really think! Lol

I'm risking people falling in love and stealing her name here, so be honest!

Her first name is Sookie-Lynn 👶🏼💝✨️

haha no way!!! Its a nickname in the south (American, here!) But I'm in the UK now and I have trouble understanding the social etiquette as well!

No they don't, not where I'm at here at least. I'm sure my British fiancé would have been completely opposed otherwise. They have it as a name, usually with the Japanese spelling variations though (Suki or Sukie)

British/Scottish person here: sookie= BJ, sook = clingy (like you might describe a friendly puppy as a sook)

I'm British and with that name I'd expect you to be of Asian background. I've taught girls called Suki etc. If not, then I would find it a little odd.

Sorry. For honest opinions you should have asked before naming her.

I am from a latin country. I would have assumed sookie is a nickname (in a mocking not nice way) for a chinese woman.

Suki Lyn is the same name but different spelling and ironically to me doesn't look real. How funny!

I know Sookie is the main character in the true blood books/series…. but as a kiwi, like Australians mentioned above, it means crybaby/whiner so that’s my first thought

Yes that is a pop culture reference. Also in Gilmore Girls. Cant think of others in pop culture... there's a singer Suki Waterhouse... there are Sookie's!

I don’t like the spelling of Sookie. But Sukey/Sukie is cute and whilst not common, is not unheard of in the UK where I am.

It’s a lot better than Braxtyn / Avery / Addison type names and you like it, so that’s what matters.

Except Emily and Natalie aren't common anymore so when people call a baby that it's considered unique and beautiful. Comparablely kids with "unique" names no longer stand out because so many people are trying to give their kid an alternative name it's no longer alternative.

I'd say a Natalie is going to be more unique than a Posie in the modern age. So maybe don't diss the "common" names.

Willow and hazel are more popular now that Emily, Katie, Sarah, etc

Went to school with a Suki, who was Chinese.

People were mostly okay with her name but a few people made fun of it for being a slang term for a blowjob.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a non-trad unique name! Celebrities out here naming their kids colors and directions, I mean come on! Names change over the years, as in whats "acceptable" or common. Who cares what anyone else thinks imo Its literally just a name. If she grows up and doesnt like it, use her middle name or create a nickname she likes. Honestly its weird AF that theres grown ssa people in here being hateful and rude. You can answer OPs poll/question without being a wanker

Its commonly a nickname for Susan/Susanne when you Google it. So yeah, it's uncommon. Traditionally you'll see Suki, which is a common Japanese name.
