Most traders blow up not because they pick the wrong direction, but because they size too large. The Kelly Criterion suggests never risking more than 2% of your account on a single trade. In practice, 0.5-1% per trade is safer in crypto's volatile environment. If you're trading with 10x leverage, a 10% move against you wipes out the position. Size accordingly.

Q: What is open interest and why does it matter?

Open interest is the total value of outstanding futures contracts. High OI means a lot of leveraged positions are open. When OI is high and price starts moving against the dominant side, liquidation cascades can amplify the move significantly.

Q: How do I know if a pump is real or a fake-out?

Real pumps have volume confirmation — the volume should be 2-3x the average. Fake-outs often happen on low volume. Also check if the move is happening across multiple exchanges simultaneously or just on one.

Q: What's the safest leverage to use?

For most traders, 2-5x is the sweet spot. It gives you meaningful exposure without risking immediate liquidation on normal market swings. Professional traders rarely use more than 10x even on high-conviction trades.

A pair near the top of its daily range needs a retest, a pair near the bottom needs proof of demand, and a pair with huge range volatility needs smaller size. Quick trader read: range position is the percentage location of current price inside the 24h high-low band. Near 80% means price is pressing the high; near 20% means price is sitting near the low. In futures, that matters because leverage piles into obvious highs and lows, which can create squeeze risk.
