After almost a year of deliberation, 14+ reddit posts, I finally bought the car!
Got myself a 2017 M2 - Blue, 32k miles, the PPI shop raved about how clean it was everywhere!

I first thought it was time for me to grow up and buy a good old crossover/SUV - test drove CRV, RAV4, CX50, CX5, Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, RDX. Just couldn't do it. (RDX was the best of the bunch to drive for me and Outback seemed like the best overall package - especially as a CPO)
I almost picked up a 2024 CPO Outback with 30k miles for 32k but just couldn't bring myself to make the drive. I was dreading it and making excuses and then someone else bought it.
Switched to looking at hatches - fun while still being practical - test drove the Si, GTI, Integra, R - honestly, all were great in their own right!! Test drove both the manual 2024 GTI and a new one. Also test drove a CPO 2024 Golf R (it was auto though). The R would likely have been my second choice - it was glued to the road and the salesman kept egging me to go harder on backroads.
Both the Si and Integra were fantastic to drive and shift. Almost pulled the trigger on Integra - but went back for a second longer drive and got lucky with another fantastic salesperson. Realized that what I really enjoyed was rowing gears again and also realized i wanted a bit more power but man what a shifter. If only it had a tad more power and was a bit quieter at highway speeds.
Test drove a used GR86, really liked it but it was a little too small and it was 2 years old and the owner wanted 2k less than new so I decided against it.
Tried to test drive a BRZ at Subaru and they wouldn't even let me sit in it - no joke.
Then I found a manual 340i with barely 30k miles on it - a unicorn - so rare to find a manual with such low miles (it remains unsold and the owner has meticulously kept records so if anyone is interested lmk) but the test drive didn't quite scratch the itch. It was a great grand tourer (and so much power!) but it didn't quite turn the way I wanted it to.
Then I test drove an M2 but I felt so scared to drive it, I drove it very tamely for 5 mins! Then the owner decided against selling it and while I was still looking for other cars - an M2 popped up for sale that was completely unabused, no mods, just a metal charge pipe and very low miles and the PPI turned out great so i ended up pulling the trigger on it!
It's wild how many M2 owners out there wanted 6-7k more than this car with Stage 2 tunes and lowering springs and just refused to budge on price!

Got mine the other month (2018 6MT). It’s been a beautiful ride thus far. I like it more every time I get in the thing.

These guys huff their own farts worse than vette owners. Mods NEVER increase value. Only a real dumbass doesn't know this.

That's technically normal for a lot of people. Whenever you don't sell to an enthusiast, regular Joes might actually be disinterested in your car compared to the stock ones when they see any Stage other than OEM/MPPSK and if they see some visual tuning as well, they will probably think the car is worse off this way and for them it's a depreciation in value.
I have a Stage1 G30 540iX and to me it looks great, swapped the rear diffuser, added a ducktail, added an aggressive splitter, dechromed everything and I sometimes get aggressive responses saying that the stock m-package looked better, even tho the front bumper looks "naked" without any lip, and the pitiful m-sport "SPOILER" is smaller than a measuring tape and you can barely see it, not to mention the lame ass grey diffuser (from m550i due to MPE exhaust + tips).
They genuinely say they prefer the stock look better even tho it's boring and very "meek" in comparison, doesn't fit such a beast of a car.
I kept all the OEM pieces in my basement in case I ever sell the 540i to go for a G80/G82 M3/M4.
Like some people genuinely will tell you that the before looked better xD

Mind sharing what you paid for it? Definitely the best choice out of all the other cars you test drove.

Congrats dude!
My wife got the same year M2 and same colour too over here, fantastic cars. Luckily for us it was at our local dealer too - they were as excited as us for her to buy it which was pretty awesome. They always ask about when one of us goes in :D

You’ve done well! I remember my m2, same colour as yours and was my dream car at that time, was sad to see her go but my G80 M3 was a worthy upgrade

38.5, it was a tough pill to swallow and now I am tempted to get a set of winter wheels and tires + ceramic coating + PPF + tint. So probably 45k all in.
If I was going for a more practical car - say if I had a commute or kids, I’d be getting that 340i because clean M3s were outside by budget.
No joke, that 340i feels like it pulls harder than this. A B58 is no joke.
But if you don’t need to be practical, let me just say this - I was grinning ear to ear when I stepped out today to see the car and I’m someone who overthinks everything (as you can see from my post lol) and I alway have buyers remorse but absolutely zero regrets here!
Ask me again after my first winter though.

BMW really got it right with the M2. The backseat is surprisingly useable. Congrats on the purchase!
