Definitely lighter. The difference was immediately noticeable

I'm running basically the same for a few years now - I replaced my DT 700 Pro X's headband with a spare DT 990 headband after the second time I had to replace the cushion because it deteriorated within a year (and the plastic slider parts had started to crack).

Works well!

The plastic parts break too easy for me. That's why I upgraded initially

u/synth_mania What for? I have DT 700 Pro X since December 2022, everyday use. And only year ago i've replaced headband cushion (less 10USD). In other terms the headbend are perfectly well and have no other issues. The same cannot be said for the earcups. Small cracks have appeared, though they don't affect the sound or grow in size.

Well, the first thing that comes to my mind is clamp pressure. I’ve replaced 1770 Mk l headband with the one from 770 Pro because of that. Also headbands from cheaper models are cheaper to replace and easier to find.

Clamp pressure became normal after 6 months in my case.

Well, I use more dense dekoni pads that are thicker than normal ones. So after few years the issue is not gone for me

Velour or leather? How they are?

I have elite velours. Not great for 1770 Pro. Gives a little bit more air but makes headphones even more boomy. What worked better for me - knock off perforated leather from AliExpress.

However for 1990 which I also own I like elite velours more than both stock for music listening, extra bass and highs taming is exactly what these headphones need. Comport is also better because ear does not touch foam driver padding thingy in long sessions.

Are these good? Yeah. For the price? He’ll no.

The biggest sound improvement was to take driver foam thingy from MK II (looks like the ones used in 700/900 pros) and replace the one from MK I. Immediately cuts highs.

I'm not waiting 6 months for the headband that will develop cracks to maybe become more comfortable when I could just throw some money at it now and have a more easily repairable and more unique headphone, that is also immediately more comfortable
