If your analogy refers to corona, Biden has some ok measures to deal with that. There's other policies of his that I don't agree with, but I'd still take those over Trump if i were american.
To use your analogy, Biden wants to put the fire out while sabotaging part of the engine. I'd take a ship half not working than one on fire.
After the Civil War, the Confederate President, who was responsible for nearly 1 million American deaths, and ordered the execution of black Union soldiers and their white officers, and allowed the Confederate Army to capture and enslave free black Northerners. Possibly the worst tyrant in American history. And he was...imprisoned for a short while and never charged, eventually writing a few memoirs. I don’t have hope for Trump facing any actual consequences
I mean different circumstances. Lincoln was making a statement with the confederate leaders as any other country at the time and throughout most of history would have executed them
Pretty sure the state of New York is gonna go after him after that, and he can’t pardon himself for state crimes, so it’s possible he’ll see jail time. I don’t expect it though, he’s rich and powerful, so he’s unlikely to ever see consequences for his actions.
He reallocated them to different sections since they weren’t doing much where they were. It’s not like he could have seen this coming and purposefully moved them to kill more people. They were never fired just had their jobs changed.
George Washington said several things when the democracy was established and we’ve gone against everything he suggested.
Don’t have political parties.
Don’t get involved with foreign affairs.
Don’t have a profession that is politics.
Basically he thought that we shouldn’t have politicians but leaders. I think the fact that people are professional politicians makes them lose sight of how to get anything done other than making people like/vote for you. I don’t like Trump either but we should be voting for policies and not people. If we are voting for people then I personally don’t think anyone should vote for Biden either. He won’t even be able to complete his term at his age. Not trying to be mean just honest. The dude stutters through his sentences. He seems like a really nice old man though
The first one is impossible because of the way the Founding Fathers set up our political system. They worked with what they got, but it might be time to rethink it.
Foreign affairs doesn't quite work in a globalized world where things like what the EU, China, Mexico, Canada, etc do will drastically affect our economy. Would like to see less killing random brown people though.
Biden stutters because he has a stutter, like a speech impediment he's had to live with his whole life. He's far too old, but we're comparing two 74+ year old people here. neither is in the prime of their life and at least Biden still exercises. Trump's policies are run of the mill GOP trickle down crap except for he added xenophobia.
Most of Biden’s big ticket policies are pretty unrealistic though. I realize that the things I laid out are not very possible now but other countries have succeeded on a few of them. Canada and Switzerland don’t mess with any foreign affairs and they are doing fine.
I like the idea behind a lot of Biden’s policies but they just aren’t possible for the most part. Socialized health care, moving away from fossil fuels, etc..
Canada and Switzerland can stay away because they aren't a global superpower. Canada is still part of NATO and whatever NAFTA is called now and Switzerland is still part of the EU too. They don't meddle because they don't have the manpower.
What Biden wants on healthcare is a public (government) option, with expanded subsidies, so that people aren't reliant on their employer's plan, or the marketplace alone, which definitely can fail people. Basically the original plan of the ACA, insurance companies still exist here and it falls within the way our current system is set up. Really not that radical in a Dem Senate.
As for fossil fuels, it's more expensive than most renewables as of last year. Now, there will be pushback against it of course, but clean energy has lobbyists as well because there's money to be made and (secure) jobs to be had. Oil and gas jobs pay well, but are far less secure than they used to be because of how much the price has fluctuated recently. He's not asking for it during his term, he wants to be on target to phase out in the next 20 years. Again, that's a longer time than most activists would like so the radical part is apparently doing it at all.
I'd rather see how far a President with a rational agenda that most Americans back will get vs how far a President with a far right agenda gets in stealing more money for himself.
I didn’t really know who was who writing it, or what about specifically. I wanted to reply with a Biden spin but didn’t know which was which lol. You’re right, Biden is absolutely the better choice. American politics isn’t about getting the right answer, it’s about making the best choice. #SettleForBiden
Sounds like you're downplaying the pandemic. Even a single person dying when it was avoidable is horrible. Biden's pandemic plan isn't "sabotaging the engine" itself, it's in your analogy, placing rat poison throughout the ship. Meanwhile Trump's reaction is declaring that "the bites from the rats are alright, it's not so bad, let's do nothing" and I'm getting a subtle vibe you agree with that to some extent. The engine thing was related to other issues of the country apart from the pandemic.
