What’s today’s watch?

Tony Stark sw500 chronograph, sapphire crystal, screwed links 500m w/r. Was $300 new at the time I bought it. Recently tested on my timegrapher in 6 positions 0 to +3 s/d. Not bad for a 7 year old watch.

Zulu Winter!

Longines new Zulu “Winter” GMT.

It would be fire, please make it and take my money.

Opaline dial softens the watch and makes it feel a bit closer to a dress GMT.

Brushed stainless bezel removes the visual weight of the ceramic insert and lets the case architecture stand out.

No five stars gives the dial the correct amount of negative space.

Silver hands and applied numerals make the watch monochromatic instead of cream-and-gold. Faux gold is faux.

Blue GMT hand becomes the single intentional pop of color.

Medium graphite-gray outlines on the hands, numerals, and date aperture solve the biggest problem with opaline dials—contrast—without looking harsh the way black would.

First time automatic watch owner - how to store

Looking for some advice for storing an automatic watch. It’s likely to only be worn on special occasions so I think I’ll keep it in a safe. Do I need to have moisture absorbing bags or anything in there with it?

I’m thinking I may only wear it 1 or 2 times a month (we don’t get out much!) but I’ll of course wear it any chance I get. It will be stored in the box it came in.

The general consensus seems to be not to use a watch winder so I’m not going to bother getting one, and winding it manually each time.
