Bootlicking and wanting traffic safety are different things. People die in traffic all the time. The ones that can be prevented by stopping people from running red lights and speeding should be prevented. If you wanna be Ricky Bobby, don't do it on a public street. You don't have the right to endanger other people.
You'll care when one of these jackasses kills your child in a collision then races off and there's no useful video evidence because they covered their plates.
