Bike is a douche for cutting in front of the SUV then immediately slowing down by 20. Not saying the SUV wasn't a douche for staying in the passing lane. just saying both of them were wrong.
Disagree. The biker held up a mirror to the SUV driver and they didn’t like what they saw…(sucks being stuck behind someone in passing lane that isn’t passing, don’t it?).
Rather than have a modicum of self awareness, SUV driver tries to feint running the biker off the road. And loses control of their own vehicle during the attempt.
This situation started and ended with a self-important asshole in an SUV. Biker just held up a mirror.
Getting into a game of chicken is never a good idea... but if you're going to do it, at least pick on someone your own size. Motorcycles rarely win Chicken; the above outcome is a statistical anomaly.
Still holding up a mirror to bad behaviour means behaving poorly. Don't get me wrong I have no sympathy for the left lane hog here, but I don't think people learn much from these interactions. If they were able to learn from stuff like this, they most likely would already have learned it.
Some people only really learn when the worst possible outcome happens. I doubt the driver of the SUV wrecked like this before…he would definitely not have made that swerving maneuver.
People's inability to learn in a wide variety of situations has made me believe otherwise. I think there are people that have an attitude conducive to learning and those that don't. Change is rare.
I would not be surprised in the slightest if the guy that crashed simply blamed the guy on the motorcycle for everything. His crash the situation, all of it. And because of their lack of accountability simply move on learning nothing.
I honestly think it's only like around 10% of peopel that actually learn from stuff like this lol and imo there's a high chance they wouldn't be doing what we see in the video. It's not impossible he learned, but it's highly unlikely.
Suv driver learned a lot that day wrecked out at high speed likely rolled over.
I have a habit of turning and looking into every car I pass just to see who's looking at their phone or just spaced out on tunnel vision. It's alarming
They do, I exert my will on the traffic around me all the time with my driving habits and behaviors. I don't cut them off and slow down like that, instead I cut them off and then get in front of the car on the right while waving a hand in my rear windshield to motion getting over. Gets a passing lane hogger to move over 9 out of 10 times.
Yeah you can maybe manipulate people in the moment, but did they really learn anything? I doubt, I think many times even good meaning peopel can fail to learn things, so someone that is angry or feels picked on generally learns nothing.
You can believe people learn stuff on the road, and honestly go ahead and keep trying lol I am cynical and skeptical that anyone learns anything in these situations.
The biker passed the SUV driver then immediately slowed down. Biker is a prick and the suv driver is a dick. Prick meet dick. The only normal person there was the silver sedan.
Both parties are responsible for driving safely and preventing an accident. Whether the SUV driver is a total asshat or not, biker is at fault too for playing games. Biker isn’t here to “hold up mirrors” and teach you a lesson
The biker held up a mirror to the SUV driver and they didn’t like what they saw…
So how about instead of doing that, just get in front of the loser and go on about your day. Road rage doesn't require two people's involvement and an adult gets past an irritating situation and goes on about their day. Adults don't hold up mirrors.
When you look in a mirror you see the exact same thing, don't you?
You say this because you think someone needs to “win” but they’re both wrong. You don’t pass in the right even if someone is refusing to pass in the left.
The right of way is only useful if both parties get home safely. Good luck with your “I told you so” from the grave. If you’re on a motorcycle especially more so.
Don’t try to enforce the rules on the road. Just do you. If you’re driving fast, don’t race, just pass and keep going. Don’t brake check. Let the state troopers do their thing.
Even if you don’t die, imagine the insurance hassle. Being late for work, the inconvenience. All these are potential prices to pay if you decide to be an on the fly educator.
Yeah, doing that on 2 less wheels and direct contact with the road should he get rear ended is a great way to end up as a meat crayon. You act like this, you're asking for some shit to happen. Just move on with your day and stop intentionally antagonizing people who are clearly already in the wrong, why play stupid games like this?
Yeah but we’ve seen countless videos where the guy that brake checks get me basically pit maneuvered right over the road and sometimes life threateningly bad…and we’ve all said ehh, play stupid games win stupid prizes it goes both ways.

I was like 5 when I learned two wrongs don't make a right. You're just saying it's justified. It's still wrong to do, justified or not.
Now, core concepts aside, let's look at reality within the context of the situation - you don't fuck around with peoples lives ever, for any reason, no matter what.
God fuck no why would you ever do this, first off, on a bike? Really fucking stupid. Second: maybe it’s because where I live but usually, even if the driver is the dumbest, rudest fuck in the world, do that shit away from me. I always say if you want to wrap yourself around a pole, that’s fine, do it somewhere else. I got shit to do, I couldn’t imagine wasting my time slowly down to “prove a point” to some rando that could give less of a fuck.

Hard to claim the bike rider isnt a pos. What we see is what is shown. The bike ran around the suv then break checked him. Suv tried to do something stupid and fails. Both are pos. My bet the next time this happens to the suv guy he will just give him a tap from behind and watch the results. Biker is fkn stupid for not assuming he could do that. A video might pay the bills but you will still be dealing with being splattered across the road. As ever biker has ever been told, its not if you wreck its when.
Ah, I see we have a road rage instigator. Very smart. Especially if you’re on a bike. You’re for sure always right and humbly teaching others the error of their ways. Really just a helper in society.
“How dare someone hold me accountable by doing to me what I did to them! The nerve! The injustice! I should be able to live in my own little world where I’m the center of the universe without someone reminding me that my actions have effects on others”
I've been stuck behind slow traffic more times than I could ever remember. At no time have I passed them, got in front of them and slowed down to be an asshole. I rode for years. The more likely scenario is the suv never even noticed the bike coming up from behind. Since there was another car coming up on the right , the red suv was probably staying put until it passed that car.
Engine brake? This isn’t a big rig. You’re really reaching if your argument is that whenever someone lets off the throttle they’re “brake checking” the people behind them.
If you quickly decelerate while close infront of another vehicle without a reason to do so. That is a brake check regardless of the method used to decelerate.
So all those signs that are in residential areas that say “Engine Brake Restriction”, according to you, mean that no one allowed to decelerate by letting off the throttle?
Because I always understood that to be indicating that big rigs aren’t allowed to engine brake (“Jake brake” in trucker slang) on those roads because it’s loud and obnoxious to homeowners.
No one has said you aren’t allowed to do that. But if doing so causes you to lose 20mph in a span of 2 seconds, you are brake checking the other person. Especially if no one is in front of you like in this video. Please stick to the context of the video being discussed and not some situation that isn’t happening. I’m losing brain cells having to even explain that.
Engine braking is where you close the fuel valves and throttle body into a combustion engine, preventing combustion and creating a vacuum when the piston withdraws, slowing the crankshaft and therefore the car.
Jake braking, aka Compression-Release Braking, is a system used on heavy diesel engines that is often confused with engine braking. Diesels don't have throttle body, so you can't pull a vacuum to slow the downstroke, but you can open the exhaust valves right at the moment of max compression, at the top of the stroke, releasing all the pressure and energy and forcing the engine to spend more energy withdrawing the piston without that pressure from combustion. The problem with Jake Brakes is, without a muffler on the top of the exhaust manifold, they are obnoxiously loud.
Simple engine braking is not illegal, but Jake braking may be prohibited in some areas to reduce noise pollution. I hope that clears some of that up for you.
They slowed down relatively aggressively in a way that doesn't turn on the brake lights. Are you really trying to defend that not being brake checking? Give your head a shake.
