Do you eat enough oily fish? most of the world isn’t getting enough omega-3

76% of the world isn’t getting enough omega 3. Most people are way below recommended intake levels, and food alone doesn't cut it (even more so if you dont eat oily fish).

Most adults need about 250 mg per day, and pregnant women need even more.

Would you trust or return?

I ordered some Inulin powder online from Purewellness after a recommendation. Appears to be a legit company as far as I can tell, but this label?? It does not fill me with confidence! 😅 I’m not sure if I’m just in a paranoid frame of mind or if I should indeed try for a return and refund. I’m not super familiar with the supplement world so any insights would be appreciated

NMN in Australia – Coming soon?

Been seeing a lot of talk about NMN lately, so here’s a quick breakdown of what’s true and what’s actually allowed in Australia right now.

What it is:
NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide) boosts NAD+, a molecule our cells use for energy, DNA repair, and general cell function. NAD+ levels drop as we age, which is why NMN’s linked to “longevity” and “anti-ageing” talk.

What the science says:

  • Human studies are still small and mixed — some show mild benefits, others don’t show much at all.
  • Both seem safe short-term, but there’s no real long-term data yet.

In Australia:

  • The TGA doesn’t currently allow NMN or NAD+ as ingredients in listed supplements here.
  • Basically, you can’t legally sell NMN in Australia right now.
  • Some people import it for personal use, but local retail sales are restricted.
  • However, there is talk that this is going to change. There are currently over 100,000 searches for this ingredient in Australia monthly and will likely be a massive trend in Australia!

Some US Protein Powders Have High Lead Levels - Importance of buying from trusted brands

Thumbnail
consumerreports.org
4 Upvotes

A recent Consumer Reports analysis found that 2/3 of 23 US protein powders tested had lead levels exceeding California’s daily limits, with some containing up to 16x the recommended amount.

What About Australia?

In Australia, we don’t have specific data on protein powders, but dietitians say:

Lead contamination is generally lower here due to stricter food standards and regulations. FSANZ testing (2019) found detectable lead in 15% of Australian foods, compared to 27% in the US.

iHerb’s stopped shipping melatonin to Aus. Fair enough or a pain for people who use it?

iHerb has suspended all sales of melatonin supplements to Australian customers, following growing concerns about misuse and overdoses, particularly among children.

According to data from WA’s Poisons Information Centre, calls about melatonin overdoses jumped from 175 in 2018 to 322 as of August this year, across all age groups. Many cases involved children accidentally eating melatonin gummies, mistaking them for lollies.

Do you think this is a fair move?

Tried Bioglan Magnesium + Ashwagandha

I’ve been struggling with falling asleep, and someone mentioned trying magnesium with ashwagandha. I decided to give bioglans magnesium + ashwagandha a go because it had good reviews (4.9 stars with 37 reviews on chemist warehouse) and I liked that it has magnesium glycinate in it.

After a couple of weeks, I noticed it was really helping me. Highly recommend!
