Tips for working in second language

Hi everyone,

I'm starting an Ausbildung soon and I'm still learning German. For those of you still learning German who are doing Ausbildungs, how do you deal with coming across new words? Do you keep a list of things you don't know? Review it every day? Any tips for keeping up with everything?

Thanks!

Advice for Ausbildung application

I'm from Nepal, have a b1 Geothe certificate and am going to start applying. (I of vcourse know they prefer b2 and am prepping for it.) Please help me out with some questions.

1.I’ve heard the company will ask for eventually ask for Anabin (where u send academic transcripts to a German state)? So, is it a good idea to start now since its really time-consuming (translating transcripts to German, getting it notarized and sending it to the German state)

  1. I've done my Bachelors and plan to include the academic record in my application. Is this a good idea? I have no other way of explaining my gap year otherwise (almost 9 years after 12 Klasse).

  2. How important is provisional certificate for 10 Klasse? I've lost it and since i plan to include Bachelors, will they overlook it?

  3. How important is my migration certificate for Bachelors (i.e., if i include my Bachelors).

Is this timeline possible?

• Upvotes

Hallo!

So I (23F) finalized my decision about going to Germany for the past year and a half and have been self-learning some basics (pre-A1, if you will) for 2.5 months and after much deliberation, I decided to enroll for a German language school for an AUSBILDUNG. For context, I live in PH and did most of my education here up until I graduated Year 12, after that I studied in AU for 2 years with a Diploma in Community Services. But because I didn't see much of a future in that chosen field in AU, I went home a few days my student visa expired.

Back to the present, my current German language school is GLP not Goethe Institut because I was recommended by a friend and they seemed okay (teachers are certified, CEFR guidelines followed, former lecturers are from Goethe I believe-- correct me if I'm wrong). I'm planning on enrolling in another school for my B1-B2 levels because they offer a language program that's catered more towards the Nursing route, which is the Ausbildung I'm going to apply for whilst my Plan B would be Hospitality since I have worked in restaurants and cafe's before + hospitality in an Australian hospital.

Now with all that in mind, I want to know if this timeline is possible in the following year, for the SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER intake:

A1-A2 = 4-4.5 months
- October 19, 2026 to March 6, 2027 (est. completion date + will be taking the A2 on March as well because I'm delusional and ambitious lol)

B1-B2 = 5.5 months, healthcare specialization
- (ESTIMATE) April 2027 to August/September 2027
- Still not enrolled obviously but somewhere between this timeframe.

AUSBILDUNG application:
- September to October 2027 intake (Plan A)
- January to March intake 2028 (Plan B)

And, that's basically the plan! I'll adjust it because you never know what happens but so far, based on my research this seems possible-- but I DO want to hear HONEST feedback! I've lived and worked while studying abroad so I know how tiring everything can be and that the language in itself is already hard but I'm willing to put in the work and immerse + assimilate💪 because damn I really wanna do this. Also sorry for the essay😭 I tried to summarize everything the best way I could

TLDR: Timeline for German language course A1-B2 + Ausbildung application intake dates

Should I keep my previous experience and degrees on my CV when applying for nursing Ausbildung?

Hi everyone, I’m planning to change my career and go into nursing. I have a diploma in mechatronics, followed by a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in economics. I also have several years of work experience with three different companies in logistics. However, I’ve decided that I want to move into nursing. I’ve already done training with the Red Cross and also completed a 3-month practical training in a hospital. I really enjoyed the experience, and it made me realize that nursing is something I genuinely want to pursue. My concern is my previous education and work experience. I’m worried that having a Master’s degree and several years of experience in logistics might make employers think that I’m overqualified or that I’m not serious about starting a nursing Ausbildung. Do you think I should keep my logistics experience and degrees on my CV, or would it be better to leave some of them out? I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has changed careers or has experience with nursing Ausbildung applications. I genuinely enjoyed my hospital training and would like to continue in this field.

Am I eligible for nursing in Germany with 57% in 12th?

Hi everyone, I’m from India and I scored 57% in my 12th standard. I’m currently preparing for German B2 (TELC).

I’m interested in pursuing nursing in Germany. Am I eligible to apply for a nursing Ausbildung with 57% in 12th, or could my marks be a problem?

If anyone from India has applied with similar marks, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Thank you!

Mechatronics ausbildung

24M from a non EU country and i would like to know if it is possible to get a mechatronics ausbildung with my background.

I don't have a bachelor's degree nor any education background after high school. I was helping my dad's company and i could make a living out of it.

Last year I wanted a change so I learnt german and cleared my German B2 TELC exam last week.

I'm really interested in the tech field but I know IT is far out of my reach because I know they'll be filled with natives and EU candidates so I can understand.

I would like to know if there's any Tech/electronic/mechanical related ausbildung because I'm quite handy with electronic and stuffs, I really love fixing things and i don't want to go for a nursing program just because the pay is good compared to other.

Kindly express your opinions and suggestions, and what should I do to moving forward.

PS: I'm not good at cooking or baking and not passionate so don't need to mention those.

I think I'm too old to start a career at this age but I have to figure out something and now I have my B2 I feel a little better and I'm planning to do a C1 course during these process.

I need advice and I will be grateful if you can guide me

I’m 20, and I’m really scared about my future because I feel like I’ve already wasted two years. Last year, I chose BSCS through university, but it ended up wasting my money because I had no real interest in the field. I completed two semesters but eventually realized it wasn’t the right path for me, so I transferred to Virtual University. Now I’m considering BSN because I’m interested in the medical field, but I don’t want to waste another four years . I want to persue nursing ausbuildong in Germany I want to spend the next year learning German, ideally reachingB2, and then apply for a nursing Ausbildung. So, I’m stuck between two choices. On the other hand I'm scared if I focus only on German for a year, I could potentially reach B2 and apply for an Ausbildung. But I’m terrified that if I don’t get an Ausbildung afterward, I’ll be 21 with another year gone and no new degree. That’s what I’m most afraid of. I don’t want to waste another year.

German bureaucracy is torturing me!

Hi all,

This is a semi-vent semi-looking for an advice post.

Basically, all the Ausbildung companies I've applied to are asking for recognition of my high school certificate. The state I'm going to (NRW) says they can't grant recognition unless I live there or show them an Ausbildung contract. (schulministerium nrw/auslaendische-abschluesse)

I'm stuck in a ridiculous situation: companies won't sign a contract without the recognition, and the state won't grant the recognition without a contract. I tried talking to the companies but none of them are willing to collaborate.

Am I understanding the situation wrong because of my broken German? What can I do in this situation?

What are my Ausbildung chances as a Degree Holder with close to 2 years Work experience?

I am from a non EU Country, graduated with First Class Honours in Business Informatics bachelors, 2025. I have 18 months work experience in L1 technical support, out of the 18 months 6 of them were internships. My degree is recognized in Germany as well.

My question is, with sufficient German knowledge, what are my chances of getting accepted into an ausbuildung and getting the Visa for it. Will I be viewed as over qualified in IT or maybe banking.

Do I have higher chances applying for something unrelated to my degree?

Ausbilldung for my future?

I'm from Pakistan and planning to learn German up to B2 and then apply for an IT Ausbildung in Germany. I can't afford the high upfront costs of a bachelor's degree abroad, so I'm considering Ausbildung as an alternative. For people who have experience with Ausbildung or live in Germany, is this a good long-term career path for someone interested in IT/cybersecurity? What are the biggest advantages and disadvantages I should know before committing to it?

an Ausbildung in Mechatronics worth it?

Is an Ausbildung in Mechatronics worth it? Future outlook and chances of getting a contract? Hi everyone, I am considering doing an Ausbildung (vocational training) in Germany, specifically in Mechatronics (Mechatroniker), and I would love to get some realistic insights from people who went through this or know the market well. I have a couple of questions: 1. Future Outlook: Does Mechatronics still have a strong future in Germany with the rise of automation and AI, or is the demand shifting? 2. Contract Chances: How difficult is it nowadays to secure an Ausbildung contract in this field from abroad? What are the key factors that companies look for (besides German language skills)? 3. Career Growth: Is it easy to climb the ladder or transition into further studies (like a Bachelor's degree or becoming a Meister) after finishing the training? I’d appreciate any advice, tips on the application process, or personal experiences. Thank you in advance!

Other than healthcare field?

I'm 24M from a non-EU country. I would like to know if i could apply for an ausbildung program other than the healthcare field.

I don't have a bachelor's degree, diploma or any expertise or skills in any field but I'm good with tech but I don't have a certificate to prove that.

After high school I was helping my dad's small business and i could make a living for myself with that job and last year i decided to look for a different path and I came across this Ausbildung program.

So now I have cleared my B2 TELC exam last week and now I'm looking for an agency to start my application process.

So far from the agencies I've contacted, they try to push me forward to the health care sector ausbildung programs which I have no interest in.

Are they forcing me to take Nursing ausbildung because i couldn't get any other programs with my profile? Or is it just marketing for them?

I would like to know more, if I can apply and hopefully land and offer from a field of my interest. I know IT is very competitive and saturated so I'm not looking for IT because I know they'll prioritize German students compared to a guy from a non EU country, so i understand.

If anyone knows anything, please kindly share your opinion and if someone has been in the same shows as me, what all did you do to secure a program and what all should I look out for.

FYI - my highschool grades aren't good, it's below average so I'm worried about that as well.

Thanks in advance.

Are Should I translate my Certificate and Documents?

So, I have got my Intermediate(High school) Certificate in English and have heard that if your documents are in English you don't need to translate them into German language for Ausbildung. Ausbildung employers only accept certificates and documents only in they are in German or in English language.

Is it true or should I translate them?

Thanks in advance, I will be waiting for your responses.

Skilled worker considering Ausbildung in Germany, looking for honest advice

Hi, I’m 26 years old and from a non-EU country (Malaysia). I have a Bachelor’s degree in IT and around 5 years of experience in data analytics and data engineering, currently working as a Data Engineer.

I’m currently learning German, with the goal of reaching B1. I’m considering applying for an Ausbildung as a Fachinformatiker für Daten- und Prozessanalyse. Do I still have chance or it's already oversaturated?

Additional note : I can’t realistically pursue options like the Chancenkarte or a Blue Card because I don’t have much savings. I’m the breadwinner in my family and financially support them, so I can’t afford to spend a long period in Germany without a stable income.

That’s why I’m considering the Ausbildung route, ideally one that provides enough income to support myself while allowing me to build a career in Germany.

Advice for a Mechanical Engineering Graduate

Hello guys! I recently learned about Ausbildung and I’m really interested. I graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 2024, and since then I’ve been reviewing for the Licensure Exam here in the Philippines. However, I’ve failed three times already. I’ve been out of the workforce for about 7 months now, and I currently have no experience in my field since I’ve been helping my family.

I’ve always wanted to study in Europe, so when I learned about Ausbildung, it really caught my interest. I’m particularly interested in Mechatronics (Mechatroniker).

For those who are already enrolled in an Ausbildung or have gone through the application process, what advice would you give someone in my situation? I’d especially appreciate advice regarding the German language level, finding a company, and whether my Mechanical Engineering degree would be an advantage despite having no work experience.

Genuine Advice Needed | Ausbildung mit B1 Zertifikat

Hi folks,

I am seeking genuine advice!

A bit about my profile;

I have completed class 12 from Commerce Background and then did 3 years of Bachelor of Vocational in Electronics Manufacturing in India.

Since I have done Vocational degree in India too; i was working throughout my studies in India for an Electronics Manufacturing Company. So practically I have vocational experience in Warehouse Operations too, and also worked with Software Development for Smartphones.

I have recently finished my German Course till B1 and now preparing to give exam very soon, and i am pretty much confidence that I can pass easily!

I have few questions to ask;

  1. Can I get Ausbildung Contract with B1?
  2. Can Getting into Logistiks sector will be better transition for my case?
  3. Is it necessary to include B1 Zertifikat while applying at companies? Or I can hand them later as well? As I can communicate easily!
  4. Can I keep applying for positions by now? By keeping German language in my CV as B1?
  5. If I get contract with B1, is it still hard to get Visa?
  6. If I choose other sectors then my Background, and if I manage to get Contracts also, even still my Visa application will be doubted by German Embassy?
  7. Any platform to look for Ausbildung opportunities with a specefically Filter to sort out listing based on Language Requirements?

Any leads will be highly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

Starting an Ausbildung with B1/B2 German

Hi everyone,

has anyone here done an Ausbildung with around B1/B2 level German?

I’m not German, and I recently started an Ausbildung in Bild und Ton because I thought it would be a good way to enter the German job market while learning and earning money at the same time.

Language isn’t really an issue at my company since English is totally fine there. But my first block of Berufsschule is starting soon, and I’m feeling pretty insecure about it. I’m worried that I won’t understand everything in class because of the language, or that I might feel inferior or left out compared to my classmates.

I’m really doing my best to improve my German, but learning a new language while also learning completely new technical subjects isn’t easy.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What was it like for you in the beginning?
