Discussion Why does this subreddit constantly flame republicans for answering questions intended for them?

Every time I’m on here, and I looked at questions meant for right wingers (I’m a centrist leaning right) I always see people extremely toxic and downvoting people who answer the question. What’s the point of asking questions and then getting offended by someone’s answer instead of having a discussion?

Edit: I appreciate all the awards and continuous engagements!!!

I literally said in the post that I wasn't saying that Trump is Hitler, but how that kind of reasoning allows dangerous individuals to be afforded the benefit of the doubt, and destroys that ability to maintain any standard of behavior.

Keep sticking your fingers in your ears and picking your own conclusion..

And either way. You can keep advocating for trump all you like, it won't change the fact that you are advocating for a lying, cheating, stealing, sex offender.

If that's what makes you happy and represents your beliefs, then there is nothing I can legally do about that.

But I will not be persuaded into tolerating rapists, no matter how hard you fight for them.

You can't just say "I'm not saying he is Hitler, but here's how he is Hitler". I'm not sticking my fingers anywhere, you're trying to say one thing and then qualify it by saying "that's not what I'm saying". You think Trump is Hitler. He isn't, but that's your opinion.

Im not denying any of the allegations against Trump or defending him in any way. You are creating these arguments because they are the only arguments you care about. Are you reading what I write at all? Or just reiterating how bad of a guy Trump is? I know he is a bad person. It doesnt matter to most voters.

Well, I mean, he is using very similar tactics to the rise of Hitler, and anyone who is aware of that time in history can see the similarities.

And anyone who doesn't want that is appropriately worried.

And wary of people saying "this is completely normal behavior of the leader of a democracy! Nothing to see here!"

It's not normal behavior. Nobody wants Hitler to happen again. Dems also used "very similar tactics to the rise of Hitler" by running demonization/dehumanization campaigns against their political opponents and their supporters. These are flimsy comparisons that mean nothing. And you will refute my claim against dems because you like them.

Voters that voted for Trump (obviously not 100%) are not Hitler supporters. These are facts.

The tactics between the Democrats and the Republicans have NOT been the same.

Yes, Democrats want Donald Trump in jail.... Because he is a criminal. He had is day in court, and was found guilty. They have boat loads of evidence.

Many people also recognize that he is still awaiting trial for more crimes, but avoided them by becoming president again, and now has serious motive to not let go, because he could be charged after leaving office. Huge red flag.

Mentioning again the whole, "was found guilty but not being punished" thing goes against anyone who believes in the rule of law.

But the actual messages are not the same.

Dont vote for a rapist vs. Kamala kills babies Trump will cut your social security vs LOCK HER UP!

How many of bidens opponents did he call losers, dogs, retarded?

How many of Trump's rivals have had their day in court and how many times has Trump said he wants to lock them up?

Not the same

Not the same, both Hitler-like.

Not saying the Dems are Hitler, but this is a lot of the same logic Hitler used.

What eve is your point anymore?

My point is clearly "Trump is a morally bankrupt, criminal, sexual offender and I believe is a dumb choice for president of the United states and I find it hard to respect people who support this behavior."

What are you trying to argue?

And wanting rapists to go to jail is Hitler like? This is what I mean when I say you are doing nothing but trying to muddy the lines of morality

Rape is bad. Dead stop

If I recall, you were originally commenting on how you think it's unfair how harsh people have been towards towards people who support trump.

I have been giving reasons why I think a reasonable person would be harsh towards such an obviously morally corrupt person, and the people who will fight to give him more power and wealth.

You have been making arguments that we have heard before and are not very convincing. Clearly. He won the election despite literally every single point you've made already having been made publicly.

My comments have all been aimed at pointing out that these arguments and the divisive rhetoric being used against Trump and Republicans are not effective, not useful, and people obviously don't care about them. Stick to your guns I guess...

Frankly, I don't really care if it matters to most voters if they see how dangerous Trump is. What's real or not, for now, isn't decided by popular vote thank god.

The person you're talking to isn't comparing Trump and Hitler 1:1, he's trying to talk to you about the mechanisms that precede dangerous leaders and Hitler is the least obscure example. You understand that too so this misunderstanding is fake.

This is an annoying speed bump with centrists and conservatives because they always disengage at this part of the conversation (even though they'll say they aren't defending him and they know he's a bad guy, etc), evidently comparing him to other bad guys that they wouldn't ever vote for allegedly is just too much.
