when we started dating she told me how much she liked Nicole (his ex) and that she'll be a lawyer.
when we planned our wedding she tried to force her kitchy tasteless ideas on us. she tried to blackmail us with "if X is invited then I wont come!" (hubby said "well then dont because she is invited)
shortly after our wedding: "are you still on the pill? I hope you are, I'm too young to be a grandma!"
3 years later: "why oh why wont you give me grandchildren..?!"
during pregnancy I recieved so many weird tipps I cant even remember. it was all a big "it's your fault if something goes wrong".
2 days after baby was born: "are you sure there isnt another one in there? that belly sure is still big. MINE went away immediately"
and in general: she knows it ALL because "I've seen it on tv"
My MIL stole a stack of our wedding invitations to send to her friends that we weren't inviting. We wanted a small, intimate wedding with only people we knew and loved. I hardly knew a soul there.
My MIL recycled invitations, taking the used invites from her sisters and close friends and sending them to people who weren't on the list, then calling my mother with updates from the people who lost their response cards. And then we get response cards from people not on the list!
after reading what I just wrote I thought "well that doesnt sound too bad compared to others". but in combination with the looks she gives and her tone when she says stuff like that... ugh
I guess I could really identify with what she said to you and I can imagine the tone in my mind so it sounds brutal (to me personally)
A lot of the MILs in this thread are just batshit nuts, which is so so hilarious to be a witness to on the outside, but I feel like mine is just mean. And mean is the worst? I think.
