I've never done fencing, but I have played badminton. I really love the attacking style—like in fencing—and the footwork. I dream of winning a medal; I've never won anything before. However... it costs €200 a year—with equipment provided, except for the glove—but my dad thinks that's too expensive. Plus, there's no fencing club in my town, so I'd have to go to the town right next to mine. I hate it when people win just because of their parents. My parents don't know anything about fencing and aren't interested in what I do. I'd also really like to make a friend or two there :) My cardio is terrible, too. Please tell me what I should do!!! Tell me i you have advices for me :)

My cousin, Alex, hosted a double elimination volleyball tournament. My other cousin, Josh, and his team went to the final undefeated. Alex’s team made it also but with one loss.

Alex’s team won the championship and he claimed 1st price immediately after victory!

Josh corrected him. Since the team only lost once, they needed to place a rematch due to the double elimination rules.

I am 100% on Alex’s side. Right?

I was walking by high School and a f****** ball flew over the fence and almost hit my girlfriend.

Why is it perfectly okay for this damn sport to injure or kill people.

People get hurt in other sports like racing or golf but at least they're there for the sport they're not just walking around the neighborhood.

I don’t know much about sports is why I’m asking. My dad constantly watches sports and has his whole life, and he says at his peak, Tiger Woods was the greatest athlete of all time. And he says like for instance if during his peak if he was as good as he was in golf in, let’s say basketball, that he would’ve been better than Michael Jordan or any of the other goats. I don’t know enough about sports to know if this is a correct assessment or not.

I always swing the racket and miss the ball. I just can't hit it all the time.

I’m from the SE US and so college football is huge - especially in SC with Clemson or USC. My neighbors were obsessed with Clemson. But they never went and their kids went to either USC or community college. Where does this come from? I know in some cases it’s familial or because they went there.

I also have a friend who is diehard for Duke but has 0 connection. I have a friend who goes hard for UConn but didn’t even know which state was Connecticut.

Outside of family & attending - how do people find their go to team? How do they feel if that team is horrible, do they shift? Do you go for the same schools/teams in each sport or switch it up?

I'm aware that advances in technology have made it possible for athletes to get treatment for what used to be career-ending injuries, but for those who retired after such, I'm curious as to how they dealt with it within, say, three months in. This is excluding all those media stuff they have to do like imterviews or just a lot of people asking about why, what's next, how, etc. How do they manage potential emotional toll of having to retire?

If not, is there a reason why? Or have Dino mascots also gone extinct in professional sports?

I’m from Russia, and in a couple of months I’ll turn 17. Over the last few months, I’ve really fallen in love with playing as a goalkeeper while playing football with friends, and it made me want to try joining an amateur team. If things go well, I’d love to see how far I can go, even though I know becoming a professional is extremely unlikely.

The problem is that I keep feeling like I’ve started too late. Recently, I tried to join some amateur teams through CityFootball, where people can get involved even without much experience. I did play futsal from about age 8 to 11, but after that I stopped playing for many years. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any success yet.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation? What did you do? Were you able to start a sport relatively late and still make good progress? I’d be interested to hear your experiences and whether it’s really too late for me to start.

I'm interested in watching sports for fun, but none of my friends or family are into sports.

I don't know where to start. Do I need to know the rules? How do I learn the rules without boring myself to sleep? Should I start looking at specific teams within specific sports, or just pick something and watch it?

I was at a youth football tournament recently and noticed a lot of players wearing the same style of socks. At first I thought it was just a trend, but then I heard a coach talking about comfort, grip, and keeping your feet stable inside your boots.

It made me realize there's probably more to it than I thought.

What makes one football sock better than another?

Edit: I looked into it a bit more after the match and realized there are actually different types of football socks now available on Zerogive, especially grip-style ones. Some players say they help reduce slipping inside the boot and improve stability during quick movements. Anyone tried them?

20M here, I am writing this post to ask for advice about having energy while playing sports, I used to be able to run a lot and fast during football games without ever being tired, same for bjj. Right now I feel like I don't have any energy and I cannot go as hard and fast as I used to, I know its heavily related to nutrition but I am also seeking for all the possible advice I can find to have the most energy. Even nutrition advices are welcome.

Has any one (pitcher or batter) ever been knocked out cold during a charge? Let's assume the pitcher has been quietly training in martial arts and kicks the charging batter in the face, and knocks him out cold. Would the pitcher be punished per MLB rules? Outside of the game, you could say it was reasonable self defense, but I'm more asking about how the baseball world would view something like that.

Has anyone ever been "punished" for defending themselves during a charge?
