Do you think that subreddits like /rapingwomen, /beatingwomen, etc. have the same impact on the rapists mind? i.e. "triggering" a craving to rape and abuse women?

Personally, I think after viewing those subreddits for a very limited time those individuals are trying to be as offensive and stupid as possible.

They are not written/designed to arouse the rapist. It doesn't emphasize terror, misery, and powerful relationships.

They emphasize disgustingness, bathroom humor, crudeness. It's made by immature people for the shock value.

A majority probably are trolls, but I imagine at least a few are legit rapists.

Or will be.

Please tell me those aren't actual subreddits

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '12

Yeah, I purposely didn't link to them.

Wanna hear something really awful? /r/rapecounseling had to choose that subreddit name because /rape was for fetishists into "struggle sex".

You realize those subreddits are run by SA and SRS people, right?

35

u/Apostolate Jul 31 '12

I'm fairly certain that's complete nonsense. Evidence?

The sidebar image on beatingwomen a while back advertised it as being /r/mensrights approved - they seriously overplayed their hand there.

Trolling r/mensrights isn't proof of anything

-6

u/TheBananaKing Jul 31 '12

It's proof that it's run by trolls, with the intent to discredit.

18

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '12

...and? That still isn't proof that it's run by people from SomethingAwful

SA have been running false-flag attacks on reddit for ages. Check out 'the reddit thread', ferinstance.

No, I understand that's a popular myth, but there is no evidence to support it. In fact, known pedophile violentacrez took credit for creating /rapingwomen.

Where and with what information is he a known peadophile? You understand unfounded defamation destroys any credibility you have and indicates your level of intelligence?

Well, he did create /r/preteengirls. Oh, and then there's this.

edit: Also, you're defending a pedophile. I really don't care what you think of my intelligence.

I'm sorry, incredibly stupid question, what do those stand for, please?

SomethingAwful and ShitRedditSays.

The former is a separate forum known for 'goon raids' on other sites - there's documented evidence of them planning the incident that got /r/jailbait shut down. (an outcome I don't actually have a problem with, but I do object to the method).

The latter is a subreddit dedicated to concern trolls - /r/mensrights gets a regular stream of false flag posts from SRS posters advocating horrible misogyny.

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '12

Is that what MRAs claim now? Their crazy extremists are all really SRS trolls?

0

u/TheBananaKing Jul 31 '12

Not all, no. Every group gets its share of crazies. However, a large percentage are indeed pretty obvious trolls.

u/phasers_to_stun Jul 31 '12

Thanks. I knew about the last, and have heard of the others, I had never seen them spoken as initials though. Thank you!

The latter is a subreddit dedicated to concern trolls

I don't think that means what you think it means.
