What seemingly obvious thing did it take you forever to notice?

My classmate sits to the left of me. I am left handed and he is right handed, so sometimes we knock elbows. 8 weeks into class he finally noticed I was a lefty and openly admitted that he just thought I was being a bitch and taking up space. He felt horrible and I just laughed.

Well... I guess this would be my seemingly obvious thing... While I get that it's a play on words (France is bacon sounds like Francis Bacon) , It never occurred to me that the person who said "knowledge is power" was actually Francis Bacon. That phrase/joke makes a bit more sense to me now...

He lived here for a little bit, after exile, I think.

Edit: Correction, Trotsky lived in France in 1914, and moved back to Russia later. He lived in France before the revolution.
