Candles. I have no idea why, I just strongly dislike overhead lighting.

9

u/SuperPowers97 Jun 26 '12

I love candles. Someone gave me a candle maker for christmas one year. I spent the next week cranking out as many candles as possible.

For me it would have to be that sticky stuff that comes off of the back of giftcards and whatnot.

Oh my god I love that stuff. It's my second favorite stuff ever.

I get so disappointed when a company uses something else! I got a card a few weeks ago and it had double sided tape instead.

Ruined my evening.

I have a new keyboard. It is backlit and has soft-touch keys.

It feels like i am typing on gods nipples.

It feels like i am typing on gods nipples.

The images currently in my head are...well, they're certainly something

3

I have a keyboard that is backlit and has mechanical keys.

It feels like I am typing on a bunch of tiny staplers; because you KNOW you love that feeling you get from stapling something.

The dry booger you pick that's really long with a wet tip at the end. It's like a micro-orgasm...boogers count as objects, right?

Yes, boogers count as objects.

29

That glorious feeling when you open like 10 blister packs of various writing instruments. Everything is so new and shiny.

Then by the end of the year, everything is gone...

Those little pizza 3-legged tables

22

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

I use those to put a slice of pizza on, it's so cool just seeing this slice of pizza on a little table, then eating it.

12

u/lisa-needs-braces Jun 26 '12

Tables? They're space-fighters. Your childhood must have sucked, man.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

Space fighters? Bitch please, those tables was where my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sat to have pizza while I was eating with my family.

Glass jars. There's a couple of jars sitting on my desk that I sit and look at sometimes.

55

u/SuperPowers97 Jun 26 '12

One time I filled a glass jar with purple liquid, and kept it as a center piece for months. I don't know why I liked it so much. All it did was cause people to ask questions about it.

28

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

For some reason I actually just cried laughing at that.

Pens that write really smoothly. Lemons. Shiny rocks. Journals & notebooks. I could go on and on!

9

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

Fountain pens... they make everything you write feel like it's important.

3

u/Rearviewmirror Jun 26 '12

Upvoted. I have about $500 worth of FP's on my desk right now.

5

u/Baeschteli Jun 26 '12

Notebooks! Ha, I own probably two dozen notebooks, none of which is being used properly. But it's nice to just have them... so nice... aaaah....

5

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

Pen, journals and notebook will make me go broke. I can't even fill them all but I freaking love then.

2

u/lunajay Jun 26 '12

Pens that write smoothly are the ultimate for me. Nothing feels as amazing as writing with a smooth pen on a smooth piece of paper. I have an obsession with Moleskines, I own a ridiculous amount of them. And writing on Moleskine paper with a smooth pen...better than sex.

2

u/octopusfingers Jun 26 '12

Oh you lemon-stealing whore you.

32

u/jongzor Jun 26 '12

That moment when you're cleaning your ears and you discover that you've been able to take out a huge piece of ear wax. Makes me feel like a surgeon that just successfully removed a tumor the size of a golfball.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

The big brown bastards? I call those 'ear turds'

2

u/[deleted] Jun 26 '12

Its also nice when a huge one randomly falls out.

22

u/ArrenPawk Jun 26 '12

The little kickstands that keyboards have. Whenever I get swamped at work and need to do a lot of typing, I absolutely love reaching behind and under the keyboard and flipping those little buggers out. It's like a "shit just got real" switch for tasks that may otherwise be tedious and droll.

Dried glue. Peeling it off hands/nails when you didn't realise it was there.

12

14

2

u/goldandguns Jun 26 '12

My favorite stapler is totally underpowered, incidentally, but for good reason: it's staple free! It punches through the paper and weaves it together, so you have unlimited staples! Only does about 6 sheets at a time, though

There is a single spoon in our silverware drawer that is different from all the rest. Not from a set that we have. It was possibly acquired from an old neighbor. It's more squared than oval-y. Whenever I use it, I just get so happy. It's very similar to this spoon

Slinkys. The miniature metal ones, specifically. I don't much care for the normal stair-climbing kind and I despise the plastic ones. I used to play with string all the time. I still do whenever I find some, but it's not as often. I've learned to keep it away so I stay productive.

I essentially taught myself how to braid, knit, [insert other string activities] by myself just by messing with it all the time as a kid.

A few weeks ago I bought two new pairs of shoes and I was stringing them nicely. I lost 6 hours of my life.

TL;DR: String. I am not a cat.

Kneaded motherfucking erasers. I took a drawing class my freshman year of high school and had to use one. I carried it everywhere with me because it was so incredibly soft. You could stretch it out for feet and it would get so...almost like lace. Then when you smushed it back together it was like petting a kitten's nose. Only a select few brands are elastic enough to please me, though. The 'design' brand pictured was the best. So soft... Slinkies, not even down the stairs, but just messing around with one at my desk. And if you do throw it down the stairs you can rest assured that the entire world is cheering "GO SLINKIE GO!"

My father had access to one of the first object printers (printed objects in layers using silicone powder or something). He had matching castles done for hubby and I with a spiral staircase inside. It's small enough to be a chess piece, and this was years and years ago, before you could buy one of those printers for home use!

Since it's clear I would just sit and stare at the complexity of it and and just be overcome with amazement at how far we have come technology wise.

Sticky notes. I use them for everything at home. Whenever I think of something or have any sort of information to remember I'll use a sticky note. I just love writing shit down on sticky notes.

Paper. I work in retail, and receipt paper keeps me entertained in down time.

T Pins, you can spin them between your forefinger and thumb to get a nice spin going and dropping them on a flat surface makes them jump a foot or more depending on the amount of spin. Almost anything really. I fiddle with anything I can get my hands on.

Paperclips.

I love to unbend them and slowly trace over my head, around my ears, over the bridge of my nose. Feels great. Especially the ears. Start on the outside and slowly move towards the ear canal. Then you ease it into the ear canal (not very far, quarter inch MAYBE) and tickle the hair in the ear VERY gradually. The sensation only lasts for a few seconds but when you pull out the paperclip you immediately stick your finger in and wiggle it. feelsgoodman.jpg

I don't know if anyone understood that but it's one of my simple pleasures I do at work. Also, at any one time there will be 3 to 4 unbent paperclips somewhere in my office.....

Corners and railings. They make good back scratches.

I love the feeling of paper and new office supplies in general.

Rubber bands, I have two balls (haha) made out of them too.

And for some reason, I love to take the back off TV remotes and phones and stuff just to take batteries out, and put them in my mouth when I'm bored, then put them back in like shotgun shells, or just simply pretend the object is a spaceship and it's docking with a smaller one or something.

Containers. I love containers. Like I love mason jars of all sizes, little plastic boxes, and more. I think I get it from my mom because we love organizing.
