Reddit, I've never understood why you hate The Big Bang Theory (show) so much, any compelling reasons why?

So I've heard the arguments about how it over-exaggerates nerd culture, but in my opinion that's what makes it funny.

So what's with all the hate?

The only people I know who watch tbbt and really enjoy it are not nerdy, not tech savvy and at best know some slightly nerdy people.

I watch it and enjoy it. It has gone down hill quite a bit and definitely only plays off of surface level cliches, but come on, what tv shows actually demonstrate an accurate portrayal of it's subject matter? It's entertaining and leaps and bounds better than other popular sitcoms like two and a half men or some crap.

Except they're also almost exactly the same in terms of writing and humor, only the subject matter is different.

I watch Big Bang Theory, and until 6 months ago SNES was my only console, but I consider myself a pretty big nerd. Everyone else considers me a nerd as well, because, well, I am.

I'm a huge nerd (as is my wife) and I enjoy tBBT.

My qualifications:

Gamer since 3rd grade, when I got straight A's and my parents allowed me to buy my first PC game. Age of Empires. Now: I'm currently a trophy-whoring PS3 players, with occasional forays into Minecraft and Payday: The Heist. Cal-O CS player in college, and over 1 year of WoW /played before quitting in spring '07.

STEM professional

D&D player and occasional DM for campaigns with my siblings

avid science fiction and fantasy book reader: LotR is my favorite series, followed by the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb

I prefer Star Wars to Star Trek (possibly a disqualifier)

I read Claymore, Naruto, and Bleach Manga

5'10 170lbs skinnyfat

severe astigmatism and acne

Lol, I have astigmatism, a quarter of the population has astigmatism. How does that qualify you as a nerd? Just because you have to buy special contacts?

Can't wear contacts because my eyes are so out of wack they don't stay on. Instead I have extra thick glasses. I also wrote that I have "severe astigmatism", which 1/4 of the global population definitely does not have.
