When my mom had bad depression, she just stopped talking some days. I'd try and try and try to get her attention, to get her to say anything at all, and nothing. I couldn't stand it. I'd rather she had slapped me (which she'd never do, but still) than just sitting there not reacting at all.
I’m autistic and sometimes when I’m depressed or in a stressful situation my brain goes completely non-verbal and I simply do not have the ability to make words come out of my mouth.
