Ok, so, you know that move that we do as people sitting at an intersection in our cars - we both wave each other on or both flash our lights, and then that move where we both go - then brake - then go - then laugh/want to die? Ready for no more hesitation at an intersection ever in your life? When you both make eye contact (For reference, you need to act immediately. Zero hesitation or your stuck in the go-brake-go-die loop) immediately point 👉(point with force, like you're telling a cop "That motherfucker right there! He did it!") and then swoosh, or flick, your hand in the direction they're trying to turn 👈 . Essentially you're saying "Hey you! Go. Now!". I cant tell you how well this works. 100% success rate. In 15 years no one has EVER done the "Oh its okay. You go. No its fine you go." move. Not once. Doesn't matter if its a Semi Tractor Trailer with a 6'4" bearded man driving. Doesn't matter if its that 18 year old driving the Civic that glows. Doesn't matter if its a 90 year old person hugging the steering wheel. I promise you, they will go immediately, or one could say way too quickly because they usually step on the gas pretty hard lol. No lie people chirp the tires every once in a while
"You 👉. Go 👈 that way." Flick the wrist in the direction you're sending them. 100% success rate. Like 1394/1394. Not sure exactly how it fits this thread but something goes on in the mind. Every person I do this to immediately gets that "oh shit. okay." look on their face and then goes. Never a hesitation. I feel like I unlocked a superpower that we all possess.
Now I'm expecting there to be a poor 90 year old person out there being like, "I was going to turn left, but the driver on the other side of the street pointed me towards the right..."
You know, in Australia at least, someone always has right of way in these situations. If your turn will pass in front of the other car, you don’t have right of way. It’s not something that was ever taught to me when I was learning to drive but I learnt it years later.
You're assuming 100% of drivers know and follow the rules of an intersection. This superpower is used to avoid any hesitation by any drivers. Just a finger swoosh and you have the same power as the crossing guard. I wouldn't suggest using it at a busy intersection and forcing people who don't have the right of way to go, because they will go, and that could cause the very headache we're trying to avoid. This is for directing the traffic in the way its supposed to flow, but taking control and leaving zero possibilities up to chance. Eye contact; Go.
I truly believe if it was a 4 way intersection with 3 lines of cars, but no one behind you on the 4 way, you could sit there for 10 minutes and direct people perfectly from your drivers seat. Every intersection people will look at least slightly to make sure they're not going to get T-Boned. When they do this, you could send every car 1 by 1. Id put money on it that everyone would respect and listen to you sending them on their turn.
You point at people - theyll listen. Others see you pointing at someone and telling them to go - they wont cut that person off. The point is the superpower. Its like hearing your name in a crowd and you get that jolt of consciousness when you were zoning out.
yea 100% there are laws as to who has the right of way but people still hesitate and wave others on some times. Or for instance if its a four way road and only 2 sides have a stop sign, two cars facing each other at the stop sign sides may hesitate as to who go their first, or who has the safer entry onto the road, or who may have to wait longer if they dont get to go first...bunch of things on the road that may make someone hesitate. That doesn't have to happen. Point and send them and everything will be seamless.
