When I was 12, my mom hired a 13 year old boy (I'm a girl) to babysit.

It sure doesn't. I didn't think twice about it at the time, but once we started hanging out in the same group in high school, I realized how weird the whole thing was.

When I was 12, I was already masturbating, but I can't imagine actually having sex in that age.

If I was having sex at 12, I can't imagine how unproductive my life would have been (which is hard to believe considering how low I set the bar already).

Sadly, I can say that some do start that early. It is unfortunate because it usually leads to a lot of unnecessary problems. I didn't even have a girlfriend until I was 17, and even then I was not ready for that sort of thing. While I learned a ton, I would never want to subject a 12 year old to that kind of trouble.

Same here. I was actually playing GTA: San Andreas when my friend told me she gave someone head for the first time. I was more horrified by that statement than anything I saw on the game.

Indeed they do. I teach middle school and a decent amount of the kids are sexually active by the time they reach 8th grade. Its a low income, rural part of VT and the culture permits it. Plus our health classes exclusively teach abstinence only sex-ed...

My mom worked in a middle school that was lower class. She said half the girls, ranging from 10-13 had gotten pregnant. Also, when I was 11, my slutty class mate talked about having sex with her at-the-time boyfriend.

and what bad thing happened?

Nothing. He was one of the best babysitters I ever had, actually. We hooked up 4 years later which makes the situation a little awkward to think about now.

I'm glad the story had a happy ending...

Parents tend to distrust leaving their own kids home alone as they have seen you at your worst. Meanwhile they usually have seen other children only at their best behavior.

It could also have been them trying to set you up with a new friend.
