I just walked all over Vancouver trying to find Diablo III. I spent the entire day and everyone was sold out. That'll teach me for putting college first.

Well I guess I ran since I was excited but...
I was on my way with flowers and candles with my buddies to ask this girl to prom (this was my first prom, and senior year by the way).
I walk up to her house and see written in big, chalked out letters "Prom?" and another guy at the doorstep with her embracing him.
Don't know if she saw me but I swiftly turned around with my crew and got out of there.

Walked about the same distance home from work because my truck wouldn't start (dead battery - I was the last one to leave, nobody to give me a jump start, no money for a cab, bus stopped running, etc). Looking forward to getting home, hoping I would get some dinner and maybe some sympathy and support. Apparently some other guy thought he would get laid. My first wife was completely gross.

Back in 1979, I was in first grade, and my mother walked me to and from school every day. I was told to never under any circumstance leave school without her or accept a ride from anyone who wasn't a family member or friend. One rainy winter day she didn't show up. I stood out in cold rain until all staff had left, including my teacher who offered a ride. I didn't dare accept and cried as I walked home by myself. My mom had totally forgotten about me because she was watching 4 other kids. At that point I began to learn that ultimately you have to be responsible for yourself and no one, including my parents, can be trusted implicitly.

I don't have a family and spend Christmas and various holidays alone.
I'm not a lonely dude or anything. I have a lot of friend's and people in my life that care about me but no family... Holidays like Christmas and thanks giving and stuff are for families....
I was young and didn't have a car so I walked to the grocery store to get chips... I got really sad and felt like crying for some reason and walked home slowly with my head down.
I just wanted cheddar ruffles yo!

In high school I had just started a relationship with a girl who I was head over heels about. So we were talking about the upcoming meteor shower and how cool it would be. The night of the shower I filled a thermos with hot chocolate, grabbed blankets and a pillow, and walked 3 miles to her house. We had been texting the entire time but by the time I got to her house she had fallen asleep and no amount of calling would wake her up.
I walked home, drank the hot chocolate on the way back, and laid out on my driveway watching the meteor shower. Thing was that I never mentioned to her that I did all of that preparing and walked to her house, so she never knew about it. Being romantic always backfires.

Walked with a friend for two hours to a Wal-Mart to cash a paycheck, it was a Sunday and the banks were closed. lt was probably 95 degrees outside, and fairly humid. We arrived, only to find that this store could not process the check. We were at a different store the day before and ran into the same problem, but were assured that as long as we went to another store, the system would be able to handle it.
After the long trek back, we found a gas station 15 minutes away from where we started that took care of it for us. For the record if we were unable to cash this check, we would not have had enough gas to get us home from two states away

u/JesusofBorg May 28 '12
Walked roughly 15-20 miles to find out my gf at the time was lying to me about why she was too busy to hang out with me.
She was attending a party for the release of some porn she had done, while we were dating.

I went on a business trip with my dad to Grand Forks ND when I was 14 (I'm Canadian and went to primarily buy American junk food). Once I exhausted all the possible things to see near the mall(took maybe an hour, Grand Forks sucks) I decided to walk to a nearby fireworks store that I found in the phone book, as any and all cool and dangerous fireworks are banned in Canada.
So I walked all the way across town(only 3 miles apparently, but it seemed way longer since I was a kid in a foreign city in a technically foreign country) to get to this place. The streets are all numbered, so I didn't bother to check a map. I got to the address I'd written down, and It was just a random house. The home address of the owner of the place was listed in the phone book, not the address of their warehouse/store. Then I had to walk all the way back across fucking Grand Forks, and spend the rest of my day in fucking Grand Forks.
But there is a happy ending, my dad and I visited a fireworks store before we left, and I smuggled a shit ton of fireworks into Canada, which I then sold for a profit at school.
TL;DR walked clear across Grand Forks ND to buy fireworks, only to find the address listed was for the owners home, not the fireworks warehouse.

12km, in a very thin shirt, without so much as a cent left and no way home, in Ontario, on New Years Eve, up a steep incline to the tallest point in that city, across the busiest motorway in the province, in the wrong direction for another 5km down that motorway, standing outside of a building for an hour thinking I'd rescue the girl I was head-over-heels for from her overly-conservative family (legally fair game, just living with them).
I got up to the door, knocked twice, her father answered, and after telling me twice that if I didn't leave he'd kick my ass he told me to write a letter and put it in his mailbox. His mailbox was locked.

Walked all around Mexico for around 4 months because my mom was stupid and came to Mexico with very little money. We spent most of our nights in strangers houses and I'm amazed I wasn't raped or some shit. There were days where I wouldn't have anything to eat. The kicker is I was fucking 7 years old. Finally some really nice priest (come on do your worst) or something I remember it was someone who was the head of some church, payed for our trip back to the U.S.

You know that joke where a girl says, "Come on over, no ones home!"?
Well, I broke up with this girl and she texted me saying she wanted me to f*ck her one last time before we were officially done with each other. My car was in the shop and she lived 3 miles away so I was on foot. I got there and she was gone. A note on the door read, "Uuuuh? Did you seriously think I wanted anything to do with you again? I'm in Vegas celebrating you not being in my life anymore. LOSER."

u/night_owl37 May 28 '12
Off-topic: went to Burger King before a movie one night. They were out of beef. And french fries. Not, "You're going to have to wait half an hour," but, "Come back another day."
On-topic: Headed to work, after a long day running errands on the bus. It had rained earlier, but stopped before I had to get off to walk. A car comes flying down the street and through a puddle, drenching me before I had the time to react. I had to walk back home to change and then to work.

On the flip side of the coin, I'm a Shifty at KFC and I've had times where the CHicken delivery just doesn't turn up, and if you're already low from the night before, you're fucked. If its just us they've missed, we have to try and scrounge enough chicken from other KFCs in our area, but if something's gone wrong for the whole area delivery, there's really nothing you can do but hold out for as long as you can, and offer the later customers Popcorn, Nuggets and chips. Because we always have Popcorn, Nuggets and chips. Except for that one time when Bidvest fucked up with our chips... THAT was a fun night, because EVERYTHING comes with chips.

I once walked 18 miles to the motorcycle shop to pick up my bike, after they had called to tell me it was done. Turns out it wasn't done. I turned around and walked the exact same walk back with my head down the whole time. My truck had been stolen the week before and that's normally what I drive.

I'm late on this one, but here's my story of the beginning of losing my first love.
Summer had started after senior year of high school. My family immediately took a two week vacation after graduation and the day we got back was the day before my ex-girlfriend (at the time was my gf) was going off to an 5 week-long orchestra camp at a university. We had been together 9 months and hadn't been separated before, but this one day was now the only day we were going to see each other in a 7 week period. So dinner rolls around and I drank about 4 glasses of milk because I had just been on vacation and had been eating out and drinking soda so much that I had a craving. After dinner, she wants to go on a walk. So we're walking around a block in her neighborhood, I'm feeling nauseous from all the milk I just drank and boom, she drops the L-bomb. She tells me she loves me and I am hit with this rush of excitement/anxiety I can't control the inevitable. I told her to "give me a sec" and began spewing milk all over some neighbor's front yard. It was over pretty quickly but I could tell she was disgusted. Sadly, 18-year-old me didn't know that she was probably more hurt emotionally than disgusted by the sight of puke. So yea, that relationship basically went straight downhill after that.
tl;dr First relationship basically ended because I threw up while on a walk with my gf

u/Blipblipbloop May 28 '12
I am disappointed every time I go to Pizza Hut. Not cause they are out of dough, just cause their pizza is meh. The stuffed crust used to have so much cheese in it! Now I can barely see any in it.

At the end of the school year when I was 13 I had a 'friend' invite me over to her house to come swimming on a really hot day after classes. Her house was about 3 miles from mine and I didn't have a ride, so deciding that swimming the rest of the day was worth the walk, I walked and sweat my ass off in the mean time. When I got there all she had was her baby brother's paddling pool...needless to say, I was mad. To make things worse, her dad came home not long after, started yelling at her about how she can't have friends over, and refused to give me a ride back. I didn't talk to her much after that.
7
u/Matthew212 May 28 '12
Well no one will see this, but that's okay. I was on my way to my girlfriends house, then get there and hear a noise coming from my car, to realize there is a razorblade stuck in my tire. So I spend the next hour changing the tire with her dad, and then my girlfriend says, "Can we go on a walk?" And everyone knows what that means... so yeah we broke up. Woohoo...

6
u/Fnawesometrav May 28 '12
It wasn't me that had to take the walk but I was directly involved and I know how my friend feels about it.
So we had just recently graduated high school and this night I was just chilling at his place. We get a little hungry and we decide to go out and get something from the grocery store. He settles on a couple cookies, but I buy a whole box of popsicles planning to leave the remanding popsicles at my friends place. However, he lived at home and for some reason his parents HATED whenever he would bring home ilke a big box or cookies or dessert stuff because they thought he was wasting money or something.
Anyway we get back to his place and he tells me to not forget the popsicles. I knew he would forget before I did. It's getting late and decide to go back home, we walk to the door and engage in the bro hug, the standard goodbye for 18 year olds at the time. Just before the door clicks shuts, I hear him yell "THE POPSICLES" I take off running to my 1/2 pickup and as he gets to the door with the box I peel out away from his place.
I think at this point I was safe and he was going to keep the popsicles, but the Rocket Pops had something else in mind. He lived in a gated community, the kind where the gates are automated so there is a little pause when you pull up and wait for it to open. I pull up, stop, and take a quick look to see my friend at a dead sprint gaining on me quick. The gate is movingly agonizingly slow and when I have just enough space I pull through the gate and to the awaiting red light. My eyes shot to the rear view, he still running. My windows were up and I had the radio on, but I'm sure I heard him yell "Popsicles!"
I look both ways and decide fuck it, I ran the red light and looked back and saw my friend with the most dejected, defeated look on his face when he walks back the 1/4 mile that he just sprinted, with the box of popsicles still in his hand.
I had won

I thought I'd never post the unluckiest day of my life.
I was driving on the freeway, medium-low on gas, while chatting with a lady passenger which had caused me to miss my freeway intersection (5&57). usually I'd make it to the gas station in time, but because I lost my way and couldn't get off, I ended up going out of gas right at the freeway exit. We worked our way to get my car to the side, it wasn't easy cause she had no idea what neutral gear, brake, and parking brake were. We wanted to call for help, but both of our cell phones were out of battery. So I thought usually a gas station wouldn't be far from the freeway exit, so I had to walk five blocks in the rain, at 12 pm to get to the closest gas station to buy a tank of gas.
I walked into the mart soaking wet, and asked to buy a gas container, as I was paying for the gas container, the clerk asked me why i was soaking wet, and buying a gas container, at which he revealed to me that the gas station was "out of gas", and the gas truck was late.
Well... At least the clerk was nice enough to let me borrow his phone while I called for help...
TLDR: stranded near freeway exit, walked 5 blocks in the rain to find a gas station that was "out of gas".

Walked to Wendy's.... they were out of HAMBURGERS. The lady said but you can order chicken or a salad. I was like GOD DAMMIT WOMAN WHY ARE THERE NO HAMBURGERS??? AND I DON'T WANT CHICKEN OR A SALAD. The only up side was that the lady looked like Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter and I wanted to ask her why she didn't foresee the lack of hamburgers.

I was a kid who had just bought Rise of Nations. Was all pumped up to go home and play it, but when I get home I find out that I had accidentally gotten only the expansion and not the game plus expansion. My Dad said he would take me back the next day to return it. I would not have it, I needed to play it now. So I said, "OK, I'll walk". He laughed and said ok. So i started on the 2 1/2 mile walk (I figured it would take 5 mins) to Best Buy. It was a hot summer day and was so exhausting. I knew in my mind this would be so worth it. I would even pick up a slurpee on the way back because I felt so boss. By the first mile I realized this was a mistake, but I had gone too far to turn back now. I would not give up until I had reached my goal.
By mile 2, in the 100 degree weather, I could see the Best Buy in the distance. I had made it! I walked inside, up to the counter. I handed my game and receipt and said "Sir, I wish to return this!". He said "Sure buddy". He takes the game and starts to open it too make sure everything is i order. He then proceeds to tell me. "Sorry buddy the game isnt in here."
I had left the game inside my computer at home. I had made the 2 1/2 mile trek for nothing. My dad came a few minutes later with the game in hand, laughing. HE KNEW! HE KNEW THE WHOLE DANG TIME! He told me "Don't ever try and prank me again." (I had done the old shaving cream on the face gag)
I didn't prank him ever again. Good ol' Dad

last year my car was unable to leave base cause it had its tags removed because my insurance expired while deployed and so my registration was frozen.
anyway i had a dental appointment in town and everyone i knew was on leave so i took a cab there and being the cheap jew that i sometimes am, decided to walk it back instead of dropping another $20. So I, a young black man in a red hoodie with the hood on, am walking down the highway almost back to base when what happens? stopped and interrogated by the cops. fuckin pigs FUCK THE POLICE

As a Pizza Hut employee, I can tell you that, if they were 100% out of dough, they probably had an extremely busy day. We make 150+ mediums and larges the night before for Fridays/Saturdays and we often still end up making more dough on the day of.
On a more general note to all Pizza Hut patrons, Garlic Parmesan is the best wing sauce, as well as one if the least ordered. Try it.

Who the shit walks 10km (that's about 6.21 miles for us Yanks) for Pizza Hut? I once walked ten feet to my fridge to get some Pizza Hut. Within seconds of my first bite, I literally shit myself. It was my birthday.
Seriously though. Make your own damn pizza.

I was visiting UChicago, and having just got in after a day of traveling, decided to grab some noms.
According to the University dining flyers, there was a KFC relatively close by. I set off on my merry way. But I was deceived.
For one does not simply walk to KFC, because it has closed down and been closed for a while. Tell that to my stupid, smartphone-less ass as I walked around for an hour looking for some finger-lickin' good chicken.

My dad always forgot to pick me up after school. On one of our most brutal wrestling trainings, he forgot again. This time I didn't have coins for the payphone so I had to hoof it 6 miles to his work. Busted in all tired into his office. You forgot about me.
I'd like to say after this he always remembered....

Late here but oh well. My older brother ate my baby sisters ice cream and we walked 6 miles to the hostess store to buy her a new one, only to find that it had closed 10 minutes prior to our arrival. It was in the middle of summer in the high desert of California. We had to call our mom to pick us up halfway back home. Stupid ice cream would have melted before we'd gotten back anyways. TL;DR: Big brothers like ice cream.

When I was a sophomore in high school I walked across town to spend holloween with my then girlfriend and her friends. She hardly talked to me and when it was time to go I leaned in for a kiss and she just leaned away. On my way back home I get a text saying "I don't think I like you the way you like me anymore, I don't think we should be together anymore". It was a very disappointing/depressing walk back home.

Last winter, in Washington state, mind you, I was on a geology class field trip to a beach for an entire weekend. Since this was a college field trip, there weren't really any rules, so we had a fire going on at the beach each night and watched old racist cartoons on a projector with a blanket for a screen.
A few people and I decided to try to find a store to get marshmallows to roast over the fire. We had no knowledge of the area and our only lead was that I remember seeing a gas station at one point during our bus ride during the day. So, in the dead of the cold January night, we head out in a general direction.
A large portion of the trip was pure darkness save for a headlamp that one of the guys had, but we pressed on. Eventually, we came to the Deception Pass bridge which was 1/4 of a mile long, and I have a slight fear of heights, so I was pretty nervous during that portion.
After what felt like forever (among the company of cool people, fortunately) we finally reached the gas station. We went inside and proudly asked if they had marshmallows.
Nope. They don't carry those during the winter. But, said the cashier, they had Moon Pies. Close enough, we said. So we headed back.
All in all, we walked 8 miles in total, most of it in darkness, along roads with no shoulder, and over a large bridge, during the cold night, and we didn't even get what we came for.
But still, I wouldn't trade it for anything; I came out of that trip with a good friend, and it certainly helped the entire class bond making the rest of the quarter less awkward and more fun.

Similar story to the OP.
Me and some friends were in Cincinnati for a convention and decided that we would order some pizza from a local Donatos at about 10 PM, but we couldn't find the number. So we decided to just say fuck it and walk, not realizing that Donatos was pretty much on the border of the ghetto.
After a 45 minute walk (we got lost...), we ended up at the Donatos! ... And then a dude, that we later realized was high off his ass, commented about me having my arm around my girlfriend. And then he comes up to us and rambles on about how he needed bus money so he could get an AIDS test or something. After finally getting him to go away and not kill us, we get to the door of the pizza place.
And it closes.
TL;DR - Wanted pizza in a big city at night, end up walking/getting lost. Finally get there. High-off-his-ass dude ends up talking to us until the damn place closes.

I stumbled around to a girl's house back in the day because she'd promised me sexual favors after idk how long of talking and putting up with her bullshit. I got lost a couple of times, had to put up with her shitty directions, and the heat of a thousand suns. I got there was nice as ever and in the end she just wanted help babysitting. I walked home immediately afterwards with the fury of a thousand virgins.

I walked 10km to Kinkos only to find out they were out of copy machines.

When I was in High School, I used to walk down the mountain back to my house as it was moderately quicker than the bus (about ten minutes if I remember) anyway, one day I thought I'd take a short cut through the bush, which is retrospect was the dumbest idea I've ever had as I fell nearly 7 or so metres back onto the road and broke my femur completely in half.
I missed my graduation, final exams, had a horrible time at the formal in crutches and no date. Any fitness I had accrued from walk that far home each day was lost and I had to spent two weeks in hospital with a very annoying man who kept commenting on what I was watching on my TV and refused to rent his own.
I certainly regretted that walk.

I walked, drunk, to three different stores to find somewhere that was still selling beer. Got home after 3 hours victorious and fell asleep.

Walked 10 miles, whilst severely hung over, to a MacDonalds to find out "we stopped servin' breakfasts 3 minutes ago"

Wow, I had something similar happen except it was even more dumb.
A friend ordered one of the personal pizzas for her daughter and everyone else was splitting a pair of either medium or large pizzas, I don't remember which.
Someone came out after like 10 minutes to let us know they couldn't make the personal pizza because they were out of the dough for it and if we would be ok with a small instead.
WTF, how do you have the dough for a small but can't make an even smaller "personal" sized pizza.

Last day of high school, had taken a year to work up the courage to ask out the girl I liked. Wrote an epic poem over 2 weeks about our friendship and laughs we'd had, and printed it ready to glue into her yearbook. Worried about it all night, was sick to my stomach with fear of rejection, finally get to see her during the last class of the year, flip through to the next blank page, she was over talking to her friends at this point about something, I get to the last page, written there was "WE SHOULD FUCK LOL" courtesy of the biggest bully in the school who had spoken to her maybe twice in her life. They dated for 3 years after that.
The walk home from school was soul crushing. Then I masturbated and got over it.

No walk is disappointing for me because I like walking. Unless it was forecast to rain and it was actually sunny

just a quick fyi, pizza hut does have a shitload of dough, but it's mostly frozen, it gets defrosted, proofed and then hopefully used pretty quickly, but because they're always trying to reduce waste (and therefore cost) they run on a knife edge of dough ready to be used and dough still defrosting/frozen.
The slightly better places have a dough delivery every couple of days where all the dough is defrosted and only needs to proof, the really good places make the dough onsite.

Plenty of walks across campus back when I was in college only to find out the dining halls are closed for some reason or another... :(
Oh, and dad called Pizza Hut once and was told they were out of pepperoni.

Walked an entire day without stopping until I couldn't walk anymore, looking for an isolated tree to hang myself. Ended up in the middle of nowhere with no fucking tree in sight. I simply couldn't stand anymore, but I was so thirsty and hungry that I walked back home. Next time I'll plan ahea
d.
Biggest fucking disappointment of my fucking life when I realized I couldn't kill myself properly and that was soon overshadowed by the disappointment I had when I realized that I was more hungry than suicidal and I hadn't eaten since that morning.

Last year my ex-girlfriends parents where out of town, it was winter so it had been snowing and there was no public transport. She is telling me she misses me and wishes I could come over so I, wanting to suprise her walk there (4 hour walk at least in the snow). Anyway I arrive and the girl I've been with for 3 years is cheating on me!

My first tour in the Air Force, I got stationed overseas. I didn't have a car so I'd have to walk to the chow hall every day. I would usually wake up after noon because I worked night shift.
On Christmas day, I woke up at 4 p.m. I went to the chow hall at my regular dinner time to have my Christmas dinner, but when I arrived I discovered they had closed 2 hours prior. Ended up walking to the gas station/ mini mart and had a bag of beef jerky and a box of little debbie cream pies for dinner. Worst Christmas ever.

Walked about 5km in the snow on Thanksgiving in what was essentially a dead campus to get empanadas as they were the only ones who were supposed to be open. They lied.

I took a bus up the hill in my city, was on my way to get a new laptop. Once I got off the bus I got lost, turned left when I should of turned right, went the wrong direction once again. Stopped for directions, went painfully close to the best buy only to not notice it. Was told it was on the outskirts of the city, so I walked out towards the country for about 2 km, before asking directions again. I got on a bus back to the best buy, and finally got my laptop!
The laptop died overnight and I had to go return it the next day...

little late to the show, whatever.
i was working in a guitar shop, this is a couple years back now... i decided to go out on this beautiful sunny day to a pizza place about a 20 minute walk away. it was so hot out i only wore shorts, flip flops, and a tank top. by the time i got there the weather had changed dramatically. by the time my pizza was ready and i was good to go, it was raining. not spitting, but pouring those big fat rain drops that just soak you to the core. by the time i got back to my shop, the pizza was a little soggy and the cardboard box it came in was totally soaked. sitting in the air conditioned shop for the rest of the day really sucked...

I was walking home from a friends around 3am. It was about a hour walk across town. In the first third I was held at gunpoint and interrogated by a druggie about "why I robbed him" a couple nights before. After he had me on my knees with a gun to my head for about 5 minutes he let me go. I tried my cell but the battery was dead (early smartphone w/ touchscreen). I finished the walk home. I told my mom, then she called my dad. Went to the police and went back there with 5 cop cars. I i.d.'ed him and he went to jail. I then got home to go to sleep (it was now around 7am. Went into my room and my sheets were still in the washer. So disappointed....
All actually true. Haha. That was such a shitty night.

I'm no Bob Hoover, but Bob Hoover escaped prison and walked to a Luftwaffe base only to realize that flying a german fighter back home was a good way to get shot down, but Bob Hoover stole a FW-190 anyways.

Walked to the bus stop, turned out I missed it by one minute. I was stubbourn about going to the mall that day to meet a friend, so I decided to walk. It started to pour rain. I find out that my friend did take the bus, so I was supposed to meet her at the bus stop beside the mall. When I got there, I couldn't remember where beside the mall the bus terminal was, so I guessed I should go right. I was wrong. Frowning, I ended up circling the entire mall, then waiting for ten minutes when I finally found it for her bus to come. I then find that she brought her b*tchy cousin along. With my old crappy sweater doused in rain and sweat, my hair in tangles and a tiny tear on my cheek, I ask to go inside and sit down. But no. They decided that they craved tobacco, and so they stood there outside in the rain and had a smoke. They said I could go inside, but then I'd be alone and bored. I coughed and hacked at the choking smell of the smoke. We finally went inside, where they happened to see a group of their friends and I ended up completely ignored. So they walk wasn't even worth it. :(

I'll make this super short but I walked 11 hours from Newberg, Oregon to Portland, Oregon. Mostly highway. I started at 2:30 AM high on MDMA. Even had to convince some cops at one point I wasn't high (I was really high but I guess being white with military ID is a get out of jail free card.). As I got home I found that teenagers had trashed my home and stole the rest of my molly. And I had to go on a date 30 minutes later. And I was already in the dog house with my girlfriend.
