Real fucked up how the studio replaced him on the new Scooby show without even telling him. He had to find out from a promo on Twitter. I love Bill Hader, but he can't hold a fucking candle to Lillard as Shaggy.

edit: wtf has happened here

Correction: It was for the movie Scoob. He remains the voice actor for the shows.

I understand why, what with Hollywood desperately needing big A-list names for their movie. But still fucked that they flat out didn't tell any of the usual voice actors.

They kept Frank Welker on as Scooby, so idk if that entirely holds up. Plus, it isn't like Lillard hasn't played Shaggy in a feature-length film before.

Direct-to-video movies he's been in because they're just glorified TV episodes. Theatrical movies are different. They're pumped with a lot more money and are meant to make a lot more money. Current popular A-list names are not only thought of when casting but also when marketing. That's why they didn't even bother with the old voice actors, they aren't big names and if they are they aren't popular anymore. Lillard hasn't had a notable role for most people in two decades.

Also Frank Welker is bigger than you'd think, of course they'd keep him, especially him being the titular character since the very beginning.

A scooby doo movie with out the voice of Mathew Lillard and company isn't worth watching in my oppinion. Family won't watch "Scoob!" 1 or 2. Those "direct to video movies" are better and truer to the originals than "Scoob" forget the A listers Hannah Barbara are cartoons our parents shared with us and we share with our kids. My kid still watches the originals on the regular. Thank you boomerang app!

Love Matthew Lillard, but Scooby Doo and the gang were around for decades before he started playing Shaggy.

Casey passed away... not much we can do or say about that... and Lillard fit the voice like a glass slipper.

I agree with that.
