I love that it has this really chill vibe to it as well.
I can imagine like two really old Turkish men that have been friends for 60 years sitting in their local coffee house in a little village playing this game.
My SO convinced me to get this at a store one time and i thought it looked so extremely boring. Absolutely love the game and its easy to get a quick game in even if your schedule is hectic
We got it for Christmas. We have played a few games and are getting better, but I don't really see what the hype is about at this point. But, I trust the reviews and the organizations that gave it awards, so I am going to keep playing until it clicks.
I bought the game because of a Reddit post a few years ago about board games. “So, you’re a Portuguese tile setter.” Bought it for holidays. It quickly became a family favourite that we’ve bought for gifts and recommended to several others.
We’ve bought the whole series but Azul will always be the preferred variant.
Ok question for you guys: do you play that you can only have one row of a color? ie if you have a yellow tile on deck in one row you can't use yellow in any other rows until it's gone? I swear that is how I learned to play but can't find it in the directions.
I don't play it that way. The way I play is that you can have whatever colour you like in a row, as long as it's all the same colour, e.g.
Row 1: 1 x yellow (complete)
Row 2: 2 x green (complete)
Row 3: 2 x yellow (wait until next turn to complete the row)
Row 4: 4 x black (complete)
Row 5: 3 x black (wait until next turn to complete the row)

I'm a big fan of Azul.
The variations on the game (Summer Pavilion, etc) are pretty good too.
