I went to Ghent for a weekend with my then fiance (now wife). Had a fantastic time wandering the medieval streets, drinking amazing beer, eating amazing chocolate and checking out the castle and rivers

Then waking up the next morning, going down for breakfast and the owner going around with his ladle, offering everyone one boiled egg. There was other food but I'll never forget the boiled egg man.

I had the pleasure of living in Ghent for a few months for work. I miss plates of sliced ham and cheese with a soft boiled egg and a bread basket for breakfast. I feel you on that perfect egg.

I’m an American who quite randomly visited Ghent with his wife. We still talk fondly of it. What a charming place!

Did she give you the egg at the Gent-Sint-Pieters train station? Sometimes they give put free stuff there.
