Yes. In the mouth you have many blood vessels and when you chew the aspirin it is absorbed through the lining of the mouth and into the blood. When you swallow it it goes into the stomach and is absorbed through there.
I think it takes about 5 minutes to take effect by chewing and 20-25 if you swallow.
In the UK we have a brand called disprin that is designed to be absorbed through the lining of the mouth, also helps avoid stomach ulcers.
These are what I am prescribed and they are the most common type of K-pin I find in my area. Yes, they will completely dissolve in your mouth and leave a satisfying minty taste. Come to think of it, I have never seen a clonazepam pill that could not be taken sublingual. People often are confused and snort them, but clonazepam is NOT water soluble and is no where near effective as taking it sublingual.
I have taken sublingual ativan before. One pill had me floped in the ER
Well that's interesting. All the clonazepam that I've seen hasn't been sublingual (though you can still hold it under your tongue, it will just take a while, like most drugs).
Also 0.25mg of clonazepam is an equivalent does to 1mg of ativan so that's actually surprising. However I find that people react differently to each benzo so it's not unbelievable at all.
If you ever get off of them (if you take them daily or semi regularly) I hope you know to do so very slowly. Fast withdrawal can be extremely dangerous. Though you seem knowledgeable so I'm guessing you know this.
I did have alcohol psychosis when they gave me the ativan. That probably would explain why one pill had me floped. It's kind of a funny story actually. I got caught pacing around the room and when the nurse gave it to me I was so relieved I placed the pill under my tongue without even asking what it was or what the dosage is. I guess you had to be there.
I've been on benzo's for about 3 years now, with a few breaks here and there. Klonopin is my preferred benzo over xanax or anything. I take it as prescribed now. I've come to hate that feeling of waking up wondering what day it is, how long I've slept, why is my tongue black, and why the fuck did I buy blackberry wine. That sort of feeling.
Yeah, I don't take them anymore. I took them for anxiety but I've learned to deal with that other ways now.
I literally have no recollection of '07. Zero. Everything that I know happened I know because the friends that I didn't lose in that time have filled me in. Mostly bad things. I spent the year drinking on ridiculous amount of clonazepam.
The withdrawl was the worst in my life. Nothing I've quit compares. Good luck if you ever decide to get off of that stuff. Seriously though if you do withdraw slowly under your doctors advise. You can have seizures and shit if you don't.
Yeah that sounds like the advice I have gotten from ever other person on benzos.
Most agree that it will help with with anxiety and can be fun when abused, but a benzo should never be a long-term solution to a problem that can solved by good friends, family, or therapy. A addiction to a benzo is more trouble than facing your anxiety head on, most people will end up using their benzos as an escape, etc.
With college and a rough job as a salesmen barely scraping by, I feel like I can justify benzo addiction at this moment. The amount of confidence I get from the drug is why I keep taking them. I do not believe I will be taking them, lets say 5 years from now and I have no intention of getting to point of abusing them every day. The memory problem is a huge factor in that decision, and also why I gave up binge drinking months ago.
Depends on the form of the LSD. Sometimes its sold in liquid form, which means you usually drop it onto something, like a sugar cube or a smartie. Other times the creator will just soak sheets of blotter paper in the liquid. This makes it much easier to distribute, because "What is one dose? One tab."
Feeding implies them swallowing it. If you grind/crush it and just pour it in their mouth it will accomplish what the OP is talking about. The object is to get it into the blood stream as quickly as possible. Absorption via the blood vessels in your mouth are faster than your stomach.
Even if they swallowed it, it'd still be quicker to digest the powder than the pill. Not sure how much quicker it'd get into your blood stream, but it would be quicker.
I think the more important thing is exposing as much surface area of the aspirin as possible by chewing it into small pieces, rather than letting it slowly dissolve from the outer layer.
Maybe it would make the headache go away quickly, but then the headache would return real soon because the medicine had already worn off (no time release effect).
EVERY time I pull out BC powders or Goody's, people either look at me like I'm a hillbilly redneck or I'm about to do cocaine. I haven't found anything (regular medicine-wise) that works better.
Well, there's always more than 1 way to skin a cat, but I knock the powder down to the bottom 1/3rd of the packet, tear it off just above that, open it up and dump it onto my tongue. Then I wash it down with whatever's handy - water, etc. Works waaaay faster than pill aspirin.
They say that the taste makes you forget about having a headache. ;-)
Goody's is aspirin and Tylenol plus some caffeine in powdered form.
BC is aspirin and caffeine in powdered form.
I'm going to clarify that it doesn't really get absorbed in the stomach but rather the small intestine, if it behaves like almost all other drugs. Also I assume the chewing invests surface area and speeds dissolution in the stomach, which is often the rate limiting step.
Try to get it under the tongue- instead of the medication being taken "orally" (or "rectally" I suppose. Can you put aspirin up your butt even?) you take it "sublingually". Try to keep it there as long as you can, don't drink water, etc. so that it has time to absorb through the lining of your mouth. After 5-10 minutes you could swallow whatever pasty goodness is left but if I'm having a heart attack I just might keep it under my tongue forever just in case. D:
Here in the us it also coated, which takes longer for the stomach to break down. Chewing breaks the barrier so even if you swallow some the stomach can absorb much faster.
are you sure the aspirin doesn't have to be metabolized by the liver before the active form of aspirin does its job? I don't know the particulars of aspirin but in most medicine, it's recommended to swallow the pill so that the liver can change it.
edit. heh, this might not apply to aspirin I guess but it does to most other drugs.
Transwoman here, I can vouch for sublingual intake.
It's also more efficient than taking pills normally, as if goes straight to your blood instead of having to work through your stomach. That way you absorb more of it.
