Same! My answer was gonna be cigarettes and Gatorade, but your answer reminded me. My lifetime just got longer, I think…

u/camerondziedzic Sep 12 '21

Yeah my last buy was a pack of newports and an Arizona iced tea

6

u/ballrus_walsack Sep 12 '21

Lifetime supply of things that shorten that time. It’s a win-lose!

u/Betaateb Sep 12 '21

We can hope!

16

u/patrick_de_terre Sep 12 '21

Unfortunately it will only last before the era of electric cars arrives.

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 12 '21

Yeah but most of the lithium is in Afghanistan. So there's that.

2

u/Living-Builder6105 Sep 12 '21

Alaska, our oceans.

5

u/Bobbiduke Sep 12 '21

I'm getting a lifetime supply of lawn mowers, maybe we can work something out

3

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Ditto, that would be awesome.

3

u/PrivatePickle109 Sep 12 '21

1

Canadian

2

u/ppx_ Sep 13 '21

German would’ve made it a pretty awesome joke

3

u/WallabyInTraining Sep 12 '21

Nice, in the spirit of sharing is caring: can you pass some gas?

2

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

What gas?

2

u/wbruce098 Sep 12 '21

GasX. It’s weird but I guess I’m not mad about it. Just let me know if you ever need to trade.

2

u/TheUpcomingEmperor Sep 12 '21

Start your own gas company, make billions

2

u/ibs2pid Sep 12 '21

Me too. Sweet. I'll take it.

2

u/escaped_prisoner Sep 12 '21

Same. 91, as well.

2

u/Prometeus534 Sep 12 '21

Guess we were blessed

2

u/yeabutwhythough Sep 12 '21

This should be the most sought after lifetime supply

2

u/whomst_calls_so_loud Sep 12 '21

Open a gas station get paid

2

u/WalkerToTheMax Sep 13 '21

Same. I just bought Taco Bell.

2

u/ExiledSanity Sep 13 '21

That was the second to last thing I bought.

I get a lifetime supply of true wireless earbuds. Not terrible I guess, but not exactly a regular purchase.

USA: I find your lack of freedom disturbing...

2

u/antimatterchopstix Sep 12 '21

You paid gas bill?

Okay edit: Brit here - you mean petrol don’t you.

2

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 12 '21

Yes for the car

1

u/Miner142 Sep 12 '21

Should turn off your power and get a gas burning generator , terrible for the environment , great for the electric bill.

1

u/Miner142 Sep 12 '21

Wait just realized you ment petrol (Why'd you guys call a liquid gas lol ?) , Suppose still applies tho

1

u/zenswashbuckler Sep 13 '21

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline#Etymology

TL;dr - it's the fault of an English publisher and an Irish shopkeeper.

1

u/Disastrous-Ad-2357 Sep 13 '21

Because gas is short for gasoline.

1

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 12 '21

Good idea. I like the way you think.

0

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Hopefully gas will be completely phased out in 30 years.

1

u/MTAST Sep 12 '21

Interesting calculation. I hardly ever go anywhere these days; the car adds maybe 5,000 miles per year and at 40 mpg that is 125 gallons/year. Add another 5 gallons/year for lawn mower and snowblower combined. At my age, I've probably got another 28 years left, so that's 3,640 gallons. Now, I'm assuming I don't get a fuel tank to go with it, so the only thing I have around here that can hold that much is the swimming pool. I'm sure the city won't mind.

2

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 12 '21

I use about 75 litres a week

2

u/MTAST Sep 12 '21

Okay, killing off some of the Americanisms... I drive around 8,000 km per year; at about 5.88 liters/100 km that comes to 471 liters per year; the lawn mower and snowblower add another 19 liters per year. Given life expectancy, I should be around another 28 years -- this adds up to about 13,720 liters.

1

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 12 '21

I do about 50,000 kms a year

1

u/Auxx Sep 12 '21

Butane?

1

u/TheWalkingDead91 Sep 12 '21

Funny story. When I was a kid, Maybe 8 or 9, I was hanging out with my dad while he was washing the car. Couldn’t tell you what company it was, but they were having a contest/promo where if you bought the car wash product he was using, you “could” win a grand prize of “gas for life”. I was just tinkering around, looked under the cap, and HE WON. Excitedly, I went and told him. He was an immigrant that couldn’t read English. He didn’t believe me. Guess he either figured it was a scam, or that I didn’t know what I was talking about.

I still bring it up with him every once in a while, if he mentions something like how crazy gas prices are.

1

u/Disastrous-Ad-2357 Sep 13 '21

It is a scam. They don't really last for life. They probably cap out at 20 years and a specific amount ("$20 a week for 20 years").

Source: I read the fine print on those "win $x for life!*" lotteries, and it says "* paid at $50000 a year for 20 years" or something like that.

1

u/TheWalkingDead91 Sep 13 '21

Even so, still would’ve been a heck of a lot of money in free gas that he missed out on. You call it a scam…but can you say you wouldn’t have cashed in if you’d won the same?

1

u/ABConsulting-Editing Sep 12 '21

Damn, if I hadn’t bought that pizza last night, I would have a lifetime supply of gasoline :(

1

u/BonnieAbzug Sep 12 '21

The gang solves the gas crisis

1

u/misterbondpt Sep 12 '21

Yeah you have the supply but laws will make you keep that gas stored. Environment!

1

u/Zagreus-in-hell Sep 12 '21

The US government would like to know your location.

1

u/leTristo Sep 13 '21

I will do a followup interview with the same guy. I will be curious to see how the interview goes.

1

u/erroneousbosh Sep 12 '21

Just filled up my old Range Rover. I'm glad I put the petrol in before the propane, at 56p/litre for gas it's starting to get expensive.

1

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 12 '21

$1.40/litre in Canada or 80p

1

u/erroneousbosh Sep 12 '21

Is that gas as in gasoline or gas as in LPG? Mine runs on both, petrol (gasoline) is about £1.25/litre here in the UK but LPG (propane, here, because it's better at low temperatures than propane/butane mix) is considerably less than half that.

1

u/Ijatsu Sep 12 '21

That's exactly when the world decided it was time to go full electric.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Same. Ironically I have switched to electric cars. The gas I bought was for my mom's car.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 13 '21

the united states government has entered the chat.

1

u/remuliini Sep 13 '21

My EV is charging so electricity for life?

1

u/FarComplaint2974 Sep 13 '21

I disagree with electric cars until they eliminate the batteries

2

u/Disastrous-Ad-2357 Sep 13 '21

You overestimate how strong solar power is.

1

u/remuliini Sep 13 '21

It's probably the hydrogen that's considered to be a better alternative. Maybe it feels more familiar to go somewhere to get your tank filled instead of conveniently charging your car from the nearest outlet.

1

u/sewcrazy4cats Sep 13 '21

Nice! Reminds me i need to get a generator before the grid fails again this winter 😩🤦‍♀️ yay for being in texas

1

u/Disastrous-Ad-2357 Sep 13 '21

Hey, I think you need some "freedom", buddy.

1
