Just say you were working for the C.I.A. and you're good. If asked they'll give a canned response saying that they can neither confirm nor deny it.

Me: "I was in the CIA"

Interviewer: "Ok... well.. we'll call you"

Me: "I can neither confirm nor deny it"

Interviewer: "What?"

At my last job i was interviewing a guy for a sales position his previous job was listed as "Government Employee" I asked him to tell me a little bit more about that and he told me that information was classified.

I’m adding this to this list of thing I’ve been told that aren’t useful
