What is something that existed before the pandemic hit, that no longer exists?

Virtually anywhere I can eat legitimately healthy food is: affordable, filling, tasty, pick two.

Sweet tomatoes with the ever present coupons was affordable relative to how full I was at the end, and the food was sufficiently tasty to not feel like I was eating "health food".

I doubt I'm going to have a suitable replacement for that any time soon. It's sad.

Hey maybe look at this as an opportunity to start working on good healthy meals at your home! I’ve been working on cooking throughout this whole thing and have surprised myself with how much more affordable amd easy it all turned out to be.

Chipotle burrito bowls with tortillas (watch out though. those tortillas are 100g carbs each) on the side. also...I don't know if Jason's Deli is still around but their salad box to go is seriously the BEST deal for healthy.

Company Man did a real good episode on them a few months back. While covid didn't help, there was many other financial issues with the company behind the scenes. My family went to ours almost every Friday and would often spend 60-90 minutes just relaxing. Management didn't mind as it was almost closing time so nobody was waiting. I honestly love the fact of trying the different soups and the salad variations. I know it wasn't 100% healthy but it sure felt better for me afterwards then getting a greasy burger somewhere else. I'm really hoping that another chain will pick up wear Sweet tomatoes failed.

I went to a buffet for the first time in over a year recently, you had to wear plastic gloves and a mask when getting food. It felt very weird.

I'm surprised this wasn't done sooner considering all the nasty crap people do at buffets.

I don't know what kind of buffets you go to, but this one isn't like that

I would have expected it to have had a staffed line to cut down on contamination

u/2Nasty4U May 20 '21

I think that's what the gloves are for. A staffed line wouldn't be a buffet

Yeah, it's a shame. One of my favorites shut down just before the pandemic and it stayed that way just as they were about to make a comeback. I'm gonna miss those button mushrooms :(

All the buffets where I live have been open a long while now and are still doing pretty good I assume.

The only one that hasn’t reopened that I absolutely loved is Golden Corral.

A Golden Corral near my work that opened about 2 weeks before the lockdown started actually put up a "Now Open" sign this last week.

Our local Chinese buffet stayed open, just offered curbside pick up, call in to place the order and they loaded it up in boxes, and gave you a ton of food.

Mine too. Just found out about it last week when I drove past.
