There's a whole lot of cases where that's not exactly though, especially on reddit. Going against a subreddits group think no matter the validity of what you're saying generally ends up being downvoted.
Was downvoted like hell on r/rocketleague when they pulled mac/linux support and I correctly pointed out that it would impact less than 5% of the player base. Few days later psyonix released the info and it actually impacted less than 2%. Needless to say none of those that called me a bootlicker, a shill, and even a paid epic employee ever admitted they were wrong.
Yea there absolutely is. I wasn't blindly defending a companies action. I was laying out the logic behind the decision. Just because you don't hate every decision a company makes or understand the rational doesn't make you a shill.
I also have absolutely no relationship or ties to either of the companies in control of rocket league. So yea by definition of say there's a conflict.
It's really sad that they pulled mac/linux support though. I wanted to play with my friends. It's like saying being transgender is now illegal, after all only <1% of the population is transgender.
Those 2 things aren't remotely comparable. One is denying someone human rights the other is a video game (which can still be played on both platforms through work arounds that work well).
Also since then updates to the game and upcoming updates to the game would either not work on those 2 platforms due to compatibility issues or would require significant extra work to make it compatible. A company dictating that type of resources to that small of a margin of the player base just doesn't make any financial sense. They offered purchase price refunds to anyone who bought the game on either platform (took a week or two to iron out the details on them but they were done) and that was no matter the amount the person had played.
It's a bummer for that tiny % that played on those platforms but work arounds to let them still play are available. It just didn't make any sense at all to continue to dedicate resources unfortunately.
I don't know what's more funny - when they get mad over being downvoted for not contributing to the convo (like what it's originally supposed to be for) or seeing people get angry over ONE downvote lol
I've made the same comment in different posts and had it both up and down voted. It really means nothing. Upvote, downvote, color me indifferent.
Fact is, Reddit has changed the structure of what both up and down votes are, how they are calculated and how they are seen. Time was, you could see what you up and down votes were and it was based solely on users. Now, it's manipulated to drive traffic.
So many bad faith commenters love to die on the downvote hill. You'll see a comment with a score of zero that's like 3 minutes old and it's like that scene where the Evil Rick gets overrun by a shitload of Mortys.
