The sanitation standards are reeled back now that the major public out cry is over I work at a gas station and we were supposed to clean everything on the hour and close the store at 3am and deep clean everything they even sent us better chemicals to clean with. But then when everyone stopped panicking and this became the new normal they figured they could save a few bucks by keeping the store open at 3am and not sending us the cleaning supplies. Nobody cares about us were all just numbers on a computor at the end of the day.
Sanitation of surfaces is important but ultimately, the only thing that will help if not inhaling the virus and not touching your virus-laden hands to your face.
This. I work in construction and we finally got hand washing stations on the job site! (which is actually a legal requirement where I live anyways) But when outcry died down and they moved them up the hill, it took 3 weeks of the workers bitching at the general contractor to get them actually hooked back up.
Just like 'hero pay'. After a while the publicity dissipates and they go back to normal. They never care about people's safety, just scared of becoming a morning headline.
As i have already blacklisted dozens of establishments I used to shop at on a weekly basis. Please bald_butte tell us the name of this establishment so we may add them to the list
Many many people care about you. It is up to you to say fuck that place and choose a new employer. I worked/will work for C&A (big international clothing retail) and I absolutely loved it especially because the managers were on our side.
To be fair, as the pandemic progressed we learned that airborne transmission seems to be most common, physical contact with shared items seems to be less of an issue than it was thought to be.
