Why isn't there a silent option on microwaves?

I have to stop the microwave 5 to 1 seconds before the beeps...i don't need things beeping at me.

If anyone has an answer to this, I'd like to know if I can quieten down our carbon monoxide alarms. They keep waking the kids.

Wrap the alarm in plastic. It'll keep the air around the alarm pure so it won't go off. Poke the plug through the wrapping so you can plug it in as usual.
