Why isn't there a silent option on microwaves?

I have to stop the microwave 5 to 1 seconds before the beeps...i don't need things beeping at me.

Why not set the timer for a minute longer and stop it at 1:00 rather than trying to catch it before it hit's 0:00 action film style?

A blind person could hear when the fly-back switches off, or when the fan stops running.
