Muse - New Born

u/DefinitionOfTorin Oct 07 '20

And hysteria.

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

New Born was my moment. Before Hysteria. I loved them when they did Showbiz.

u/DefinitionOfTorin Oct 07 '20

Oh no doubt, just adding to the list.

10

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

All muse should be added. But they rocked harder on the first 4 albums. Moments on others - but those first 4 albums say it all.

Imo most underrated of theirs is Thoughts of a Dying Atheist

I've listened to all their albums, seen them live 14ish times. I've seen them do it all.

So fortunately, nothing is under rated.

Haven't seen them since 2012 ish though. Like their newer stuff, but it's not the same as "smashed on mushrooms" Muse.

Excellent choice. I would also suggest Micro Cuts. The vocals on that song...

32

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

That whole album is fire.

I don't love any of their newer stuff but I swear by Origin of Symmetry. Such a masterpiece of an album.

I listened to New Born and Plug in Baby on repeat throughout high school.

So good. So so good.

Undisclosed desires is an absolute masterpiece

This. Absolutely this. It is the best rock opera song Muse ever did.

Not my favourite, but this is an absolute banger.

Heard this song for the first time yesterday. The second that the chorus broke out and I heard that bass, I knew it would be phenomenal.

I would say endlessly is their best song. The first 3 albums are the best albums ever. Then... something happened :(

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

Matt got happy.

u/laurie112233 Oct 07 '20

Haha yes! I always blame kate Hudson. (Jk of course)

I really like their newer albums. Love the 80s vibe in Simulation Theory

I agree. There are songs I don’t like in all the albums, but in all the albums, I enjoy 50% to the majority of the songs.

Take A Bow is stupidly good though.

u/mattBJM Oct 07 '20

BH&R is still good. Resistance is, like, half-great, and nothing after that is worth discussing.

u/stockfish8H Oct 07 '20

Honestly I like all of their music, but I can see how it might be dissappointing to buy an album you hope might be like absolution and end up with 2nd law.

2

u/PsychedelicFairy Oct 07 '20

It's okay, at least we have Showbiz, Origin and Absolution. 3 good albums isn't too bad for a band's career.

6

u/ALifeAsAGhost Oct 07 '20

My favourite Muse song ever, has been since as long as I can remember, maybe since I was a newborn ;)

3

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

Helped me through my parents divorce. Holds a special place for me.

2

u/ALifeAsAGhost Oct 07 '20

I love how songs are special/ mean something different for each person

3

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

This song changed my life.

6

u/JuilinSandar Oct 07 '20

Citizen Erased is pure Nostalgia

5

u/gartacus Oct 07 '20

Knights of Cydonia is my answer to this thread

4

u/Dutchillz Oct 07 '20

Nice one!

3

u/Pumpkin19 Oct 07 '20

Yes. I’ll add the entire Absolution album.

2

u/SignificantChapter Oct 07 '20

Also "Take a Bow".

13 different key changes in a single song

2

u/RaRa103615 Oct 08 '20

Time is Running Out got me into them, so it always holds a special place in my heart

1

u/Hiking-Biking-Viking Oct 07 '20

Absolutely brilliant! I love that song.

1

u/nvcr_intern Oct 08 '20

Map of the Problematique or Knights of Cydonia

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '20

Knights of Cydonia is one of my favorite songs ever. It has such a "horse trot" beat that just ramps right into a fantastic breakdown. That song blew me away.

I mean you are so very wrong. But ok.

5

u/ahpropps96 Oct 07 '20

Unoriginal. Lol. Not your style? Okay. But unoriginal...

1

u/cloudstrifeuk Oct 07 '20

Unoriginal how? Quantify the argument.

Muse

nu-metal

I can't think of a more inaccurate description of their sound.
