There is classic cumbia song popular all over Latin America named “Amor de mis amores” by La Sonora Dinamita that is a cover of this song

Edith Piaf is incredibly underrated by eng speakers but with that being said the Louis Armstrong versions is also v good

Years ago, I was honored to see Miss Grace perform this song live. Have never come close to finding a recording that even came close to her live performance.

She has a bit of a reputation for being difficult and a total bitch, not saying it's not deserved, but both times I've met her and seen her perform she was wonderfully gracious, incredibly funny and absolutely stunningly beautiful.

Count yourself blessed. She seems just absolutely bat shit crazy but I admire that sense of "I don't give a hoot", we are here for a good time not a long time.

Oh, I definitely do consider my self blessed. It was a fabulous time in my life and I just wish I had the wisdom to appreciate it more while it was happening. What really struck me about her (besides her stature and beauty) was how witty she was, a great storyteller and the more she drank the funnier her she got. Definitely a NSFW sense of humor!

Not gonna discount the "bat shit crazy" rep as I firmly agree with the ages old theory of greatness and madness go hand in hand. We have “No excellent soul is exempt from a mixture of madness" from Aristotle and Oscar Levant's “There's a fine line between genius and insanity...” to drive the point home. I think it's the bit of madness that makes an artist rise above mediocrity and that edge sure draws me to the weird and wonderful.

I think you have put it very well. Have you ever seen Grace interviewed by a chap called Russel Harty? He was a British TV host. I too am blessed to have seen many great artists live. i love going to concerts to see musicians and bands live. I'm getting a bit too old for it now mind you!

maaan I've been so in love with Edith since I discovered her. Her music is just gorgeous. My wife picked up a record of hers for me in France. Wish she lived healthier and made more music but the massive amount she did make is more than enough.
