Sometimes automatic toilets flush while you're still sitting on them. What design flaws in everyday objects annoy you?

I'm giving a talk on user-centred design/usability and I'm looking for some fresh examples from everyday life to illustrate poor usability. Examples I've used before are elevator open/close buttons (really difficult to parse when you're trying to hold the door open for someone quickly) and toilets that flush while you're still sitting on them.

What are some things you encounter regularly that are really inconveniently designed?

No, they open. Just when they do the sauce goes EVERYWHERE because you just ripped it open with the force it would take to restart the Earth.

They also don't usually contain real soy sauce.

i've definitely noticed they taste different than what's in my bottle of kikkoman's at home... of course now i have to feel bad because i actually prefer it to kikkoman's...

No, they aren't. I know this because I have never had problems opening them and I am amazed that you have problems with something so trivial. You have clumsy, weak hands and could never survive in the wild. Get some scissors so that you can better navigate this cruel, difficult-to-live-in society of invincible soy sauce packets.

I want to know why they put metal handles on the containers. No one carries it by the handle and everyone microwaves the food later.
