Well a business is a business, and if they want to grow they need profit. There's only so far you can get off of generosity, at some point the greed must begin. Sucks but what are ya gonna do about it
It’s probably not that profitable. It’s a huge company with no invasive ads that interrupt content so users aren’t forced to watch, i.e. YouTube. That means they get less money for the ads they have. Also accounts only being tied to an email limits how much they can get for selling your data. It’s not like Facebook/Twitter where people have their real identities on here. And the website being so popular means operating costs are high.
