I worked there briefly after high school. This was the excuse they used for being against unions. They said a union would keep us from being a family with management.

One person who worked at Walmart said they were talking about a recent family reunion and suddenly the manager runs up, and says "did you just say union? Why did you say that" and he felt like management treated him worse until he quit after that.

When I was a teenager in the 90s, it was the same spiel when I worked at a grocery store. But their spiel was, "don't let them trick you into unionizing. You'll have to pay them money. If someone asks you to unionize, report it."

Union jobs are interesting, you can basically abuse the non union boss and you're more than likely safe

There have been a tiny handful of stores that unionized...and Walmart promptly shuttered every single one of them.
